The Moen Gibson Single-Handle Posi-Temp Tub and Shower Faucet Trim Kit in Chrome (Valve Not Included) flow restrictor is located at the end of the showerhead where it screws into the shower arm. We suggest using a flat-headed screwdriver to pry the restrictor out as if you would to remove a paint can lid. We do not have replacement parts for the flow restrictor. The U.S. Energy Policy Act restricts the maximum flow rate of plumbing products and the removal of flow control devices. All Moen Products comply with the Federal Law. In addition to the trim kit and valve, you will need 1 elbow for the shower arm connection, 1 elbow for the tub spout connection, and the plumbing pipe that you choose such as copper or IPS pipe. Hello Valve and thank you for your interest in Moen Gibson 1-Handle Posi-Temp Tub and Shower Faucet Trim Kit in Chrome (Valve Not Included). We make three basic types of single handle valves. Visually, they all look very similar; however there are major operational differences. The Posi-Temp is a pressure balanced cycling valve. To activate the water you rotate the handle counter-clockwise. As you continue to turn it, the valve will give you a mix of hot and cold when pointing straight up at 12 o'clock and the handle reaches its furthest point at 9 o'clock offering full, hot water. Posi-Temp does NOT have volume control, so the amount of water remains constant. In short, the handle rotates only; there is no push pull action to this valve. The two screws that hold the escutcheon plate to the wall are located at 2 and 7 o'clock. If you wanted to change the look of this fixture without changing the valve you can switch to any trim style that is Posi-Temp. Moentrol is also pressure balanced but has a push-pull type handle to activate the water. If you pull it out half-way, you will get half the volume. If you pull it out all the way, you will get the water at full force. Turn the handle to the left for hot and the right for cold. Simply push it in to turn it off. It also has temperature memory, which means if you shut the water at a warm temperature setting (say the 10 o'clock position), it will be at that same warm temperature next time you pull out the handle. The two screws that hold the escutcheon plate to the wall are located at 2 and 7 o'clock. If you wanted to change the look of this fixture without changing the valve you can switch to any trim style that is Moentrol. Moen Standard valves are non-pressure balanced and have a push-pull type handle to activate the water. If you pull it out half-way, you will get half the volume. If you pull it out all the way, you will get the water at full force. Turn the handle to the left for hot and the right for cold. Simply push it in to turn it off. This valve also has temperature memory, which means if you shut the water at a warm temperature setting (say the 10 o'clock position), it will be at that same warm temperature next time you pull out the handle. The two screws that hold the 7" round escutcheon plate to the wall are located at the bottom at 5 and 7 o'clock. If you wanted to change the look of this fixture without changing the valve, you can switch to any trim style that has the screws located at the bottom and is Standard or you can purchase the Moen part 145058 that will adapt the Standard valve to accept any Moentrol trim kit that uses a round escutcheon.
