The 56WHT Durawall can be trimmed to fit the size needed. Trim the side of the flat panel panel that is covered by the corner panel. Go to www.mustee.com and look up the instruction manual for more detail.
Most installers just caulk the edge of the bathtub wall
The usable area of the shelves is about 3-1/2 x 9-1/2 but you have to understand that they are not perfect rectangles. There are curves everywhere.
The corner pieces are 18" along the back with a 2" overlap, making the original center panel width 40". Actual width of the center panel really does not matter because the 72" possible width is the important number. You cut the center panel to adjust to the width you need below 72". If there is drywall in your bathtub alcove, it already comes down over the lip of the tub. This surround attaches to the drywall so at the bottom you simply fill the space with silicone caulk. An attached molding would leak. You need the drywall or other material behind this surround. It is not made to attach to the studs. This from the Home Depot listing page for this item: "•Glue-up, adhesive installation mounts to drywall and similar surfaces"
Good question; I live in a temperate climate. So research the manufacturer and get feed back. My experience is do not use the recommended adhesive; but cowboy up; I used a loctite adhesive and got good results after the recommended adhesive failed. This time, I would use Liguid Nails, "STICKS TO ANYTHING". Put it on like troweling a tile. Also be careful with calking as it will flex and separate with freezing/thawing, so calk twice a year.
yes, make sure you use the correct adhesive. The adhesive should say use for bathtub and shower walls
I’ve never put it OVER tile. But the item is opaque : colors won’t show through
The answer below is correct. The back and side panels can be deeply scored with a razor knife and then bent to snap off the unwanted portion.
When installed in a cold climate the product will accept the cold like any fixture. Allow the product to warm up to room temperature before applying hot water to prevent thermo-shock.
