Product Overview

The Makita 1 in. Wide Crown Stapler combines ease-of-use and performance in a compact size. The Makita 1 in. Wide Crown Stapler has a top-loading magazine that accepts 16-Gauge 1 in. staples (accepts 1 in. to 2 in. staple length). Jammed nails are easily cleared by opening the quick-release cam-lock on the nose assembly. It has a compact size and weighs only 5.1 lbs. for all-day use. Additional convenience features include a hook that allows the tool to remain close-by but never in the way and a multi-directional exhaust port that directs exhaust air away from the user.

    The minimum recommended air delivery for each Makita AT2550A Wide Crown Stapler at 90PSI is 2.3 SCFM, so to run 2 staplers you would need a compressor with a minimum of 4.6CFM.

    The minimum recommended air delivery for each Makita 1 in. x 16-Gauge Wide Stapler (AT2550A) is 2.3 SCFM. For 3 of these staplers, you would need a minimum of 6.9 SCFM from your gas compressor.

    I purchased the Makita AT2550A because I have always been impressed with their products. Along with it, I also purchased two boxes of the Dewalt DW16S2-25GAL staples. These staples were advertised as frequently purchased together with the gun on the Home Depot web site. I received the Stapler and Staples in a few days but when I tried to insert the staples into the gun, they did not fit. According to my reading and looking at other web sites, the Dewalt staples should have fit. Needing something quickly, I returned the Makita to Home Depot for a refund and purchased the Dewalt DW451S2 stapler. The staples fit perfectly into the Dewalt and I had no problem completing my project. Besides, The Dewalt DW451S2 was less expensive. I don't know if this is a product error with this one stapler or if the Makita Stapler is just not compatible with the Dewalt Staples. In any case, I would be wary of this issue if purchasing the Makita with Dewalt Staples. I rated this stapler poor due to the issue I encountered.

    Dewalt recommend staple did not fit, nothing available anywhere locally complete waste of money and time waiting for this tool to arrive. Makita website recommends 16ga 1” crown which is what was supplied however still does not fit.

    The tool is a little on the bulky side and has no ability to adjust the depth at the tool. It also misfires fairly often need the end of a rack of staples which also are able to roll of the carriage which turned/bumped/jarred, this may be adding to the misfire issues
