A: Mine cut square and true. It didn’t wander or bind. That carbide blade it ships with did a fine job. I was thinking about a higher tooth count but, figured esthetics were not critical for a wheelchair ramp in the garage…those cuts were furniture quality.

It's the best circular saw I have ever used. I know that people say the blade has a lot to do with how this type of saw will cutt wood but being a guy who has always used a lower end circular saw with an expensive blade I can state that those people are wrong. If this saw was a car it would have to be a Cadillac. Comfortable to use and easy to see the cutt. I like the plastic case but if you put to many blades in the compartment for extra blades they seem to fall out.

The saw worked very well for me. It has plenty of power, slides well thanks to the magnesium base, and I think it is well designed and looks great.
I did think the carrying case could have been a little heavier duty, but that is no knock on the saw.

Great saw, good for precision cutting sheet goods for woodworking with proper blade. I added dust collection and with Kreg Accu-cut or other guide system can act as poor man’s track saw. Makita does not make a dust chute for this saw, but the Bosch CSDCHUTE for their CS10 fits. Just have to heat the plastic with heat gun and shape it to the Makita width. Drill and tap for two screws to affix dust chute to saw and seal with silicone caulk. Needed to bend the blade guard handle out just a small amount for it to pass added chute. With rear chute only, some dust will also be ejected from front of saw. This can nearly be eliminated by adding a plastic “guard” at front of blade guard. Used 10 mil thick clear plastic from plastic dividers from stationary store. Shaped to fit and secured with double-sided tape. Search “circular saw dust collection” on youtube and many examples will show up. EZsmart has examples of this type of dust collection and also sells a different chute you can add to front of saw, which is more efficient but involves cutting a large hole front of blade guard/housing.

Its really worth the bucks for a better saw !
Granted, its a very simple project, but I got the ramp to the shed built today, and I gotta say that new Makita Circular Saw I bought last night really made the project a super easy project.
Its really the first good circular saw I have ever owned.
The others over the years have gotten the job done, but not with the ease of the new saw.
There really is a difference in quality between a $49 saw and a $149 dollar saw....I just didn't know how much I would appreciate the nicer saw :)

Didn't even have a chance to use it
So in my mind I would say that the saw I just purchased was a display saw since I pulled it out of the case brand new. It didn't have a blade in the saw, nor would it power on. The feel of it was nice but is only good for a flashlight to see the line you are supposed to cut. In otherwords, the led lights are a nice addition but what good are they if I pull the trigger and nothing happens.
I would think that maybe it was bought and returned before but not a thing has a mark on it. No screws look like they have been removed, not even the blade bolt. Cord was perfectly wrapped and all packaging was intact and where it should be.
So to me it seems like there is a bit of a quality control issue with this but maybe it was a mix up with Home Depot. Who knows but I will be returning it once I get out of work today. Probably just my luck though.

Great saw, easy to use, smooth cutting, easy to see line, excellent sawdust removal system
I'm building a 20x24 workshop, my first. My dad's old craftsman, 6-1/2 in. saw is OK, but older than I am. I opted for the lighter weight Magnesium - great choice. It's easy to see the line when near the end of the board; no more guessing. And the sawdust removal system is great - the saw blows it downward away from your eyes. Not very quiet thought; recommend plugs or muffs. Use eye protection too. Shaft lock location inconvenient when changing blades. Allen wench needs a longer handle for us long fingered guys, especially when wearing gloves. Good product.
