Jambs and Broken Piece
Have to agree with other reviewers. I am a general Contractor and have many Makita tools that have been great, but this pin Nailer isn't one of them. Constantly jambs and i found that the metal on the tip had broken. I don't want to buy a different brand because O already have all the batteries etc., but I had great success using a friends Milwaukee without a single jamb. I really wanted this one to work.

Sticking to the compressor.....
As a fan of Makita, 18v lxt drill, compact and the multi tool are all too perfect I had high hopes for the 23ga pin nailer. Brand new tool, full 5 amp battery and 1/10 pins sink in far enough for putty. Even with the depth gauge maxed out!!!! I tried 1 3/16" pins as well as 7/8" pins in mdf, plywood, 2x4 and hardwood and im not impressed. I will be returning this pin nailer tomorrow for something else. guess its time to bring back that compressor i wanted to keep in storage.

Lasted 1 week
Out of the box I was getting jams around every 4th nail. And one of the metal rails next to the firing pin snapped after about 2 weeks of very light use.
No difference in results after oiling and trying 3 different brands of nails, including recommend Porta Cable.

Take it from me
I’m a union finish Carpenter and I’ve been in the union for 26 years and just bought 2 of the Cordless makita 23g pin guns for A job in a high end hotel in Boston they wanted to add a piece of wood in behind some vanity draw pulls for support it was a oak to oak application In every room so it was about 250 rooms 2 draws per room this gun worked perfectly never jammed never miss fired this gun worked like a charm and it beat dragging my compressor and hose to every floor and room
Don’t listen to any of the bad reviews there is a lot of guys out there who think there a finish carpenter But in reality there a sub par handyman
I only use Makita Now and have tried every tool on the planet they last and are reliable!
Thanks Jason

It's a good thing this wasn't the first Makita tool I've purchased! Out of the box, using Porter-Cable 23g (which Home Depot recommends with this purchase) test fired three into scrap stock - ohh this is going to be sweet! Umm, no, no it actually isn't. Same stock, same pins, same depth setting - bent about every third pin into a fishhook inside the feed channel. Some broke off and required extra extrication. Then, the jams changed to where it was stripping a segment of 3-5 pins off the end and jamming them in the feed. Oh, and no indication of the jam until your work doesn't stick where it's supposed to... Spent more time "unjamming" than nailing. Now, I gotta say, "I like most of my Makita stuff." One star only because zero isn't an option.

Disappointed
I’m a finish carpenter and have used 23 ga air guns for years. My buddies lasted two weeks before driver broke. Mine lasted three days. I love makita and own at least $5000 in makita tools at home and am very disappointed in their attempt at cordless nail guns. I have friends that have been using Milwaukee 23ga 12v guns for at least six months with no issues at all. I will repair driver and use for light home use and purchase the red ones for work. I depend on reliability in my tools.

The pin nailer fired 2 pins and then jammed, after wasting 45 min trying to get it to shoot again without adding multiple extra holes in my customers project I put it back in the van. I pulled my trusty 15 year old 23 guage and compressor and finished the job. Later I spoke with Makita about the issue, they told me to buy SENCO brand nails, I order fresh packs and pulled the nailer back out only to have the magazine fall apart in my hands. I tried to return at the store to no avail. I now have a $250 piece of TRASH!!
