The Makita 18-Volt LXT Lithium-Ion battery charges faster and works longer than standard Lithium-Ion batteries, giving you and your cordless tools unmatched performance and productivity to take on the most demanding applications. The Makita 5.0Ah battery, model BL1850B, combines more run time (65% more run time per charge than the Makita BL1830 battery) with a category-leading charge time of only 45-minutes so it spends more time working and less time sitting on the charger. For added convenience, it also features an on-board LED charge level indicator to monitor battery charge. The 18-Volt LXT 5.0Ah battery is compatible only with Star Protection tools, indicated by the Star Symbol and/or Yellow Battery Receiver under the tool. Makita 18-Volt Lithium-Ion batteries resist self-discharge so they're ready for use even after long periods of storage. The Makita Rapid Optimum Charger (sold separately) is a smart-charging system that communicates with the battery during the charging process to monitor current, voltage and temperature. This advanced charging technology helps optimize battery life and deliver a faster charge. In addition, the Charger has a built-in fan to cool the battery for faster and more efficient charging, even in hot weather conditions. For improved tool performance and extended battery life, Makita created STAR Protection Computer Controls.

1 defective after 2 months of use
I am an avid Makita fan. Over the years i have consolidated all of my tools to one brand, and chose Makita. I like the wide array of tools selection, the promotional deals they run from time to time, and the look & feel of their tools. However, i am disappointed in the latest batch of batteries i had received. After limited use and only a couple of months it is already blinking with an error code and will not hold a charge. I am hoping to have this replace under warranty but i have not reached out to Makita yet.

Great Batteries that Last a Long Time
I am impressed with how long these 5ah batteries last. If you only have these two you will be able to charge one full before the other ones needs charging.

Hope the new BL1830B last 5 years like old BL1830
Purchased a brushless XRJ07ZB reciprocating saw.
Purchased BL1830B-2, 2 pack of 3.0 amp hour batteries for $99 before tax.
My 5 year old batteries still work.
New batteries fit older LXT cordless ☆ tools. Similar numbers. New battery has indicator LED

Couldn’t recommend the 5.0 Ah batteries more. Although they are heavier- suck it up, it builds muscle ;).
I love that I can count on the quick charge time and how long each battery lasts. Depending what tool, I can go 2-4 hours on one battery using constantly. I now have three of them and watch for deals. I couldn’t be happier.
