21 in. 18-Volt X2 (36-Volt) LXT Lithium-Ion Cordless Walk Behind Push Lawn Mower Kit with 4 Batteries (5.0 Ah)

I have a house in town with a corner lot. My yard is medium size (zoysia/st augustine), and I mow regularly. This mower just doesn't cut it. It takes eight batteries to mow my front yard alone. I've got to charge all four it came with at least once per mowing, and they don't charge fast enough before the other two run out. Disappointing for a $780 mower. I feel I'm well within the use case for a mower like this, but that doesn't seem true. I love the convenience, weight of the mower, cut, etc. It just takes too many batteries to mow a corner lot in town. Disappointed.

This is a wonderful machine! It cuts the grass very well and for about 40 minutes on both sets of batteries. I have only two negatives. 1.) It is a very heavy machine and hard to push. We have it set to cut on the lowest level and that may be the problem--the grass offers a lot of resistance. I will adjust it to see if it helps. 2.) It arrived with the bag of nuts and bolts etc. broken. Most of the nuts and bolts had disappeared. I found an exploded diagram of the mower and found substitutes for them at a hardware store. Luckily, the key was still in the box, which is an essential part.

Operates well but leaves a lot of stray blades of grass behind. Seems like it needs more vacuum from the blade to lift the grass.

Excellent battery operated lawn mower. Batteries last about 90 minutes which is perfect for my size yard.

Easy to set up out of the box, easy to start and whisper quiet. I started it to see how loud it was, my wife inside didn't know, nor did my neighbor. Love it! No gas, no oil to change, no pull start. And it quiets down anytime you're not actively mowing.

Leave it to Makita. What a great purchase and a wonderful piece of equipment! Can't believe I waited so long to go electric! The 18" version was a good deal, but I opted for the 21" non-self-propelled. The cost was about 75% more than the 18", but I've always had 21" or larger mowers and I knew I would regret getting the 18" even if it was such a good deal. The machine is typical Makita superior quality. Sturdily built, with a steel deck, and so, so easy to put together and use. I marvel at how simple the attachments and battery ports are, compared with other brands. Good, clean design is Makita's hallmark. As for functionality, it cut my lawn just as well, if not better than, my old gas mower. We have a pretty standard, 10,000 square foot, typical suburban lot. It usually takes me about 45 minutes to mow the front and back. The batteries have three bars, and there was one bar left on each of the two batteries at the end of mowing both front and back. lawns. But guess what, you get four batteries with this mower, and all four install on board the mower. The mower uses only two at a time, and there is a switch to choose which pair to use. So, if the first pair run out before you've finished mowing, just switch over to the other pair (assuming you charged up all four to begin with). I had read horror-story reviews about other brands, with people saying the supplied battery/ies didn't have enough power, but they were unable to obtain new batteries because of shortages and long back-order backlogs. Plus, when they did find a battery, it was half the cost of the original machine purchase. With the four batteries included with this Makita, and the beautiful design of having all four batteries on board, buying this product was a no-brainer. I am so enjoying the idea of not messing with oil and gas, making a run to the gas station for fuel, and having to wear ear protectors because of the engine noise. And the convenience of stopping and starting any time, at the flick of a switch, to remove obstacles and so on, is just terrific. I agree the 21" was on the expensive side, but don't be tempted to get the 18" for cheap, unless you have a tiny yard. I strongly recommend this product. Buy it and you will definitely not be disappointed.

Very nice and efficient.

Easy to assemble and use with good battery life. I look forward to using this mower each time that I mow as it's much lighter than our comparable gas mowers.
