Product Overview

Makita ImpactXPS is new innovation in fastening with insert bits and fastening accessories built for the demands of the professional contractor. The ImpactXPS Power Bits are designed exclusively for use with high-torque impact drivers, and are engineered to last up to 90-times longer than standard bits. High-strength steel delivers longer bit life, and the precision-fit tip is engineered to prevent "cam-out" and stripping. The torsion section of the bit flexes under load to take pressure off of the bit tip for increased durability. The high quality steel construction is engineered for increased durability and features a matte nickel surface for best in class corrosion resistance. ImpactXPS Power Bits are ideal for the most demanding jobs including deck building, framing, installing plywood subfloor, and more.

The "#20" is a mistake on how the product specifications have been entered in the Home Depot's system. It should say "1/4 inch". All three versions of the Makita Impact XPS bit sets feature a 1/4" shank and are compatible with all impact drivers. Hopefully, someone from THD can update the product specifications page.

can I use this in a regular screwdriver?

Asked by Alex December 2, 2020

Answers

By "regular" I assume you mean a manual screwdriver, or an electric low-voltage screwdriver. The answer is yes, if they accept the standard 1/4" hex shank bits. As a matter of fact, I use my impact bits on my manual screwdriver all the time. It is overkill, but this way I only carry this set with me.

Can somebody tell me what the difference is between #20 and 1/4 in bit diameter? Thanks in advance.

Two of the PH2 bits broke on the first use
Driving some Phillips head deck screws with a Milwaukee surge impact driver. Fastening 2x6 framing lumber. The first two bits I used broke after one or two screws. Very disappointed as the marketing claims these are supposed to be long lasting, are there bad batches of these that got onto the shelves? It’s hard to believe these would have been released if all of them are this fragile. I was able to use the shorter Phillips bits to finish the job, so I’ll hold off on the single star rating, but it’s hard to take these marketing claims about 90x life very seriously...

Makita IMPACT XPS Impact Bit Set (35-Piece) The ImpactXPS Power Bits are designed exclusively for use with high-torque impact drivers. In addition, all the bits can be used with any cordless or corded drill using any standard 1/4" hex shaft chuck. ImpactXPS Power Bits are ideal for the most demanding jobs including deck building, framing, installing plywood subfloor, and more. The Impact XPS™ bits are designed to handle the high-torque demands of professional users in all trades, and are said to be lasting up to 90x longer than standard bits. The torsion section of the bit flexes under load to take pressure off of the bit tip for increased durability. Makita IMPACT XPS are precision machined to provide a superior full contact fit for improved holding power and longer life. The sturdy plastic 'slide locking' storage case comes with interior tool rows that you can flip to pull out the bit. Makita IMPACT XPS Impact (35-Piece) bit set is recommended to both contractors and do-it-yourselfers. This is a really high quality bit set at a fair price. *NOTED: the 1/4" hex shaft works with any popular impact drivers, cordless and corded drills, and are not exclusively made for Makita.

Makita IMPACT XPS Impact Bit Set (35-Piece) is an excellent set for a screw impact drill/driver. It has a very nice case to keep the various commonly used bits handy and secure when the case lid is opened. They fit well in the screw heads and seem to be very exact, durable and hard. The main holder bit has a powerful magnet to hold you fastener in place and stays in place while tightening with one hand. It would have been nice if the holder box had clip to attach it to your belt, similar to what a tape measure has. The case does have some slots on the top you could run some string through to hang on your belt for ladder work.

This set pretty much covers it all. I have several sets from different manufacturers but I really like this one. The case is well made and easy to open. One of the things I really like is you don't have to fight the tools out of the case. The tools themselves are well made and of course work with most standard tools that i have tried them with. I will be investing in more of these tools.

Hallelujah! Finally an impact bit set that comes with multiples, upon multiples, of the most commonly used sizes. And torx bits to boot? Oh yeah. My days of wasting money on cheap sets just to get a couple of useful pieces are over. I have used several pieces on a couple of projects and I am sold. The phillips heads did not round off, even when maxing out the torque on my impact. No stripped screws or trashed bits. Love that they are all magnetic as well, makes life SO much easier. I forsee this lasting me a long time and couldn't be happier. 10/10- definitely recommend!

Love this bit set. One great feature of the case is that each rack of bits rotates up so that getting the desired bit out of the rack (and back in) is very easy (see pic below). I've had too many cases where it was such a royal pain to get the bits in and out of the racks in the case, you would just put them loose in the case. I like the bit holder. Solid and secure fit for he bits. Magnet is nice and strong. I have too many bit holders with the collar to tighten down the "chuck" to hold the bit in. That made switching out the bits difficult and you ended up not tightening it , and the bit invariably fell out. This Makita bit holder solves that problem. Their selling point for this bit set seems to be the longevity of the bits. I've only had the set for a week or two, so I'll report back in after a few months.,
