Does this work with any bits or only special Makita bits? I used to use the blue Makita Mag Boost...

No, it is only for special, small diameter shank, Makita bits. What a disapointment.

Do these replace the older plastic Max Boost Extreme teal

As far as I can tell, yes. The max boost with the plastic cover seems to not be being restocked.

Doesn't fit any bits
Seems as if this is specifically designed to not fit any other brand of bit than Makita. Milwaukee bits just slide all the way through this, and the standard hex bits that everybody has hundreds of are too fat to fit through the opening.

Broke the magnet aftwr 11 screws
Bought this because the Dewalt equivalent (a far superior item) only comes in a kit now, and while it’s not expensive I just don’t need the kit. I used it on some wood screws and after about a dozen I looked at the tip to see the magnet in shards. Junk. Even if the magnet held up it was a very loose fit on the bit, and the magboost would often be stuck to the screw in the wall due to the power of the magnet being stronger than the hold on the bit

Recommended Mag
I used it a few times, and it seems work pretty good. The only complain I have that it should be written on the package used with Makita bits only.

Very disappointed with the Makita impact XP’s Mag Boost Bit Holder it will not fit all bits only found 4 bits in my collection of over 100 bits that I could use the Bit holder with. All others the blade would not fit thru the bit holder. I have the plastic Makita bit holder and I can use all my 1/4 bits with that bit holder. As I say will keep this this just to use with star bits.

Nothing more than junk
Dont waste your money on this. I cant believe Makita would put their name on this. The magnets and the balls that hug your bit all blew out within the first half hour. I bought two and they are nothing more than junk.

Weak magnet. Does not allow enough depth for screw to seat properly. More trouble than it was worth. I ended up throwing it out

to be honest
The mag boost is actually a good product. I was able to finish plywood and drywall at a faster rate. Even with 2x’s they work fine. Now i will say, that these do not work when youre going in an angle. You do have to take off the Mag boost to finish screwing screws but it takes a couple seconds to remove and put back on. Its not always great to do that but it does good.

Fit Makita XPS driver bits perfectly
I bought 1 to try out. It does not fit my Dewalt nor Milwaukee driver bits. However it fits my 2in and 3in Makita XPS bits perfectly. The XPS bits are now my goto bits anyway, this tiny mag boost makes life easy. Will buy more. Highly recommending the longer XPS bits and this boost.

A good accessory to have, and didn't need to buy the big bit kit to get it. Would be five stars if they could taper the end a little so if you do push a little past the surface, for example when hanging overhead drywall, you don't leave a little circular mark from the mag face touching the surface. You get used to it, and not a big deal, but even one accident is one too many.
