Pneumatic 15-Gauge, 2-1/2 in. Angled Finish Nailer

The first I noticed about the Makita AF635 is how lite it is. But while it is lite it is very well constructed. The Makita AF635 is a rear loading nailer using 15 gauge DA finish strip nails. It will accept 1-1/4" up to 2-1/2". I've been using 2" finish nails for nailing hardwood trim. My supply air runs at 110 pounds and the Makita pounded the nails in the hickory. I had to adjust the depth a little which is an easy task with the Makita AF635. The depth adjustment is located right behind the trigger. Although I haven't experienced a single nail jamb - yet, Makita also made it easy to clear them when they do jamb. There is a tool-less quick release mechanism that allows the guide to be completely opened to clear the jamb. It's also a nice feature for performing maintenance on the gun. You can have full access of the guide to clean and oil. It does also allow for two types of nailing; contact or repeat. Both work flawless. The nail magazine is aluminum and nails slide right in. The nailer includes a rubber shoe on the guide to help minimize marring on already finished material. It comes with an extra shoe that is stored on the nail magazine. Also included is "L" type handle near the rear of the magazine. This is for hanging the nail gun on your belt. The nail gun is so lite, it's a I'm glad it's there, it's no bother to carry. The included case is nice too but it doesn't spend too much time in it. I really like the Makita finish nail gun.

Wow, Makita makes a great pneumatic nailer! This tool is light weight, easy to use and performs really well. Depth adjustment is simple and tool less. This nailer has a handy belt hook and a built-in air duster. It is angled for getting into those tight spaces. It has a rubber protective tip that contacts the work without scratching. This model is ideal for putting up baseboard trim and clam-shell moldings around doors and windows. Super easy to load, and it should be east to clear a jam, but it has not jammed on me yet. Great tool!

I have maybe a dozen air nail guns from various manufactures. This is my first Makita. I'm impressed. My only complaint was, when going from single sequential mode to contact actuation mode, I have to adjust the nail depth. (see pic) The instruction are very easy to understand and the pictures are helpful. Nail loading was very simple and straight forward, but will require both hands. I nailed maybe 4 full clips without a jam. By the way, the nail jam clearance procedure is very, very easy. It's other features worked fine as well. I love the light weight of this unit. Very comfortable holding and using.

Exceeded my expectations. Super light weight. Operates very well on my cheapie 100 psi compressor. No problems with drive depth gauge.
