Product Overview

Malibu Wide Plank Smoked Series features a custom aging process that dramatically deepens the color tone of natural wood. Choose from the latest whitewash and neutral colors with smoked in high definition, accented by 6.5 in. wide planks (3/8 in. x 6.5 in. x 15.75 in. to 47.64 in., 70% at maximum length) and hand rolled edges and ends. This floor is sealed with 7 layers of the latest super low gloss urethane finish with aluminum oxide, providing protection from everyday wear - your search for stunning hardwood with family-friendly durability is finally fulfilled. Given our devotion to European craftsmanship, colors may vary when freshly unpacked and slowly age with exposure to sunlight and weather. Malibu Wide Plank is Lacey Act compliant, EPA and Carb Phase 2 certified and has achieved the highly coveted Floor Score certification, which is the most recognized indoor air quality (IAQ) certification standard for hard surface flooring materials. Great product
Installed this product for a client and was very happy with the quality and uniformity of each plank. Often times, engineered hardwoods are warped and difficult to work with, this one was a pleasant surprise. Highly recommend

    gorgeous and on trend
Let me start by saying these floors are beautiful. I think the photos online are very accurate to the real product. Would absolutely recommend to others. I was looking for somthing that was more sustainably sourced and tooknimthe environment into consideration there is not mich literature or information on availbale on most floors unless you are willing to pay five to seven dollars per square foot

Great quality and very easy to install. Get the first row straight and then just cut to length as needed at the ends and use a tapping block and rubber mallet. We love the floor, but I'll probably have to give in to my wife's desire of new furniture to pull the grays, but it looks great. I was disappointed that there was not a "matching" transition piece. The picture below shows what we have in place, but I'll probably work on staining my own to come up with something a little better.

            Color Variation
We are in the process of putting French Oak Delano in our new home. Luckily, I am not very picky about stuff like this but I did want to show first hand the variation in the color. Someone who wants all one color of floor may want to look elsewhere.

French Oak Delano is suppose to have a lot of gorgeous, unique natural color variation, as its real Hardwood Flooring with no 2 pieces of flooring be the same. Our French Oak Delano undergoes a special European aging smoking technique used to enhance the depth and richness of the gorgeous French Oak species. The digital images and room scene for this Engineered Hardwood Floor are very accurate as the actual flooring was installed in a home to photograph the room scene. Hardwood Samples are available online in a 5" x 7" format. Unless multiple samples are purchased it can sometimes be challenging to see the true color from such a small sample size. This stunning Engineered Flooring collection comes in either a Click Lock 3/8” Thick x 6.5” Wide x Lengths to 47.6” or a Tongue & Groove 1/2” Thick x 7.5” wide x lengths to 74.8" and utilizes character graded hardwood to meet our design specifications. This character grade may include naturally occurring cracks, splits, knotholes, mineral streaks, filler for stability, etc. Due to the nature of natural hardwood flooring there can be a difference in samples and the received product due to a variety of issues, including color/tone, naturally occurring character imperfections such as knotholes and mineral streaks, etc, as well as grain orientation. These floors are beautiful and very easy to install. I had hired a flooring contractor to install these for me and when he had to postpone my install, I decided to take it on as a home project. I was amazed at how easily these went down and how easily the flooring was to work with and saved myself $4,000 in installation charges. I would highly recommend these floors.

Malibu line - French Oak La Playa
We found the Malibu line and really loved the look of several of the options. It was very hard to tell online and from reviews which floor was which, and that was disappointing. We ordered about a dozen samples from the Malibu line...French Oak, Hickory & Maple in several finishes. The samples are so small, but it was beneficial to see them in our house, with our lighting, other existing floors and wall colors. We ended up choosing La Playa from the samples (after narrowing it down to 3 - see last image), crossed our fingers and ordered enough to do 3 rooms in our house. The French Oak line does have a great deal of variance in the planks - each box contained about 40% of really wild pieces that I did not want in two of my rooms. This was the greatest disappointment. I found myself opening 10 boxes at a time and sifting through all the planks to separate the boards ahead of time. Choosing which boards to use and where to use them was the most time-consuming part of this DIY job, but I'm glad we took the time to be intentional. We ended up ordering extra boxes, pulled out the more "normal" boards and saved the more widely varying planks for our game room. It ended up being a fun look in there, but I'm thankful we used more of the even-grained planks in our living and family room. I've attached some pictures so you can see. The floor does vary widely, but it looks beautiful installed (and it was very easy to do on our own). One of our rooms has been done for over 6 months and the floors wear well, have not scratched easily (and we have a puppy & move furniture around, slide stools in and out, etc). The low-gloss finish is really pretty. We are so glad we went with this floor!
