Is it recommended to seal these? We have a pool and 4 kids, love these but concerned they’re not ...

Asked by Canaan6 May 13, 2021

Answer

The Malibu Wide Plank Hardwood Collection would be considered Water Resistant and is an excellent choice for kitchens and half Baths. If you review the definition of "water resistant" = able to resist the penetration of water to some degree but not entirely, most hardwood flooring would fall under this category, however key is how long the water, spill, liquid stays on the floor. If you spill water, drips from dishwasher, or track in water from outside etc, solution would be cleaning/drying up the spill. If you clean up the liquid within a reasonable timeline, there should be no issues. If you have a pipe or dishwasher leak in your home, then even though you decided to purchase a "Waterproof" flooring option, the installation would also need to be waterproof. If there is a major flood in your home, more than likely homeowners insurance would need to be involved based on monetary amount it would cost to attempt to salvage floor, do water remediation, re-install a new floor, rip out damaged floor etc. Hardwood Flooring is the flooring of choice among the majority of homeowners, is extremely durable, easy to maintain, and an excellent investment in your home.

if this is glue down why does it need a cork underlayment?

Asked by enrique April 23, 2021

Answer

It does not require a cork underlayment. This product is a 3/8" Click Lock which is primarily floated, however it can also be installed full spread glue down. Please refer to the installation instructions under "Info & Guides" on each product listing page.

Answer

The entire Malibu Wide Plank Collection of Engineered & Solid Hardwood Flooring is extremely durable, easy to clean, easy to maintain, and a great investment in your home that will return your hard earned dollars in the long run over other flooring alternatives. Hardwood Flooring is natural, sustainable, renewable and recyclable and the flooring of choice among the majority of homeowners. Our suggestion is to select the REAL HARDWOOD Floor option vs a plastic floor designed to look like hardwood.

What T molding is used for the Malibu Wide Plank French Oak Rincon 3/8” Thick?

Asked by Inquisitive February 5, 2021
1
Answer

The previous molding supplier for all Malibu Wide Plank Moldings is no longer doing business with the Home Depot, and a new Molding Supplier "Roppe" is in process of onboarding all Malibu Wide Plank Hardwood Coordinating moldings which should be online or available for Store Special Order by the end of April 2021. An alternative would be to purchase UNFINISHED White Oak Moldings, take a medium tone flooring plank to develop a custom stain that will coordinate with the flooring, then stain and finish the moldings as needed. Are you able to do a herringbone design with this floor? Thank you!

Asked by Niki January 12, 2021
2
Answers

Do not recommend a Herringbone install. That would be challenging as this is a locking floor and there are not left and right planks which are required for a Herringbone installation.

Perfect Flooring For Timberframe Great Room
This Malibu Wide Plank Flooring was a perfect floor for our timber frame great room. The color is Salt Creek. A very easy install and a beautiful finish!
by Jwood
Looks great
Easy install, love the random lengths. Gives a nice clean look. Floor must be exactly flat or this flooring creeks, cracks, and gives at every step.

Attached to each product listing page is a detailed “Installation Guide” located under “Info & Guides”. We recommend leveling the subfloor to all specs outlined in this guide, and the click lock joins together by engaging the tongue into the locking groove with use of a tapping block. The entire collection of Malibu Wide Plank Hardwood Flooring is very durable. This 3/8” Thick Locking Collection features a 1.2mm Thick Sliced Face Veneer mounted on an HDF Core, with a hardwood back veneer. This collection is also sealed with 7 layers of the latest super low gloss urethane finish with aluminum oxide, providing protection from everyday wear and tear. Hardwood Flooring is extremely durable, easy to maintain, and an excellent investment in your home. The boards click together very easily and securely. The flooring looks beautiful. From our brief time having it, it seems to be very resistant to scratching. At least we did not scratch it with all of the tools we had out while installing it. We used Maverick 3/8 inch and installed it in the entire house.

Easy to install
Our new floors were very easy to install and made entire room look far brighter and larger. Highly recommend for the price.

Goes down easy and looks great. Just spread out boards before installing to blend tones. Have purchased more to do the living room.

I have remolded many floors using every possible type of flooring, glue down, floating, nail down, etc.. This was my first experience with Malibu Wide Plank. The packaging was great. Not one damaged board. No dented corners. No cracked tongue. Colors were consistent and assembly was very easy. I will be using ONLY Malibu Wide Plank going forward for renovations. If you are looking for a top quality flooring with a high-end appearance, I highly recommend using Malibu Wide plank.

Love this flooring!
We shopped around and looked at several retailers for vinyl, laminate and engineered hardwoods to replace 600 sq ft of carpet in our home. We choose the Malibu Wide Plank from Home Depot in the French Oak Mavericks and we love it! We are extremely pleased with the product and are now considering it extending it on into our master bedroom! My husband said it was easy to work with and he had no problems installing the flooring himself. We love our new floors and we highly recommend the Malibu Wide Plank engineered hardwood!

Every other plank inside the box was unfinished and deferent from the type of plank support to be in the box. Clicking groves were not matching. If you buy this product, you have to open every box to make sure it’s nor sorted with garbage. See photos attached

The Malibu Wide Plank French Oak Rincon is part of our WireBrushed Collection, which are sealed with 7 layers of the latest super low gloss (7-9% Gloss Level) urethane finish with aluminum oxide, providing protection from everyday wear, this is a Prefinished hardwood floor. The Surface Texture is Wire brushed which is the trending visual in the hardwood market. Brushed finishes are produced with a rotary steel wire brush that goes over the surface of the hardwood where this process removes grains and leaves the upper surface with a textured finish. The depth of the texture on our wire brushed collection is a light wire brushing meaning a small amount of surface texture. If you were seeking a full fill hardwood floor you would select a floor with a Smooth Finish which does not have a wire brushed visual. This collection features one of the best Click Lock systems available in the market today which has exceptional joint integrity when installed properly following the installation guidelines attached to each product listing page under info & Guides. A minimum of 70% of planks in each case will be full 47.6 in. lengths. An excellent way to make your product selection is to view our Room Scenes & photos attached to each product listing page, and also order a 5" x 7" Sample available for sale online. For assistance and troubleshooting please call our Home Depot Technical Services department @ 800-928-6168. JasonMWP
great flooring
putting in new floors in living room, dining room, and den...easy to install, looks great, really brightens up room compared to previous darker floor...wish the ends locked together a little more, but not that big of a deal, just make sure to tap each piece from end...would certainly recommend.

Very easily damaged. DO NOT BUY
From the first month we had these floors they started to get gouged by everyday things like pulling out a chair, dropping your iPhone, Vacuuming, etc. Not that vacuuming does anything because the grooves in the wood are so deep it collects every spec of dirt and never vacuumed or mops out. We paid a TON of money for these floors and they looked terrible after 6 months and now a year later we are considering replacing them. Just trash. See my photo with a new plank verse a year of normal wear.

The entire collection of Malibu Wide Plank Hardwood Flooring is very durable, however If you look up the definition of Scratch resistant it essentially means that the product is able to withstand minor scratches. There are ways to prevent scratches on Hardwood Flooring by taking proper precautions to protect furniture and chair legs and feet with felt protectors. Moving heavy objects without a dolly and/or protective plywood beneath may cause damage to any type of flooring. Damage may also occur from spiked and/or high heels and pet claws. Falling objects can also dent or fracture any type of flooring. All Malibu Wide Plank Hardwood Collections are extremely easy to clean, easy to maintain. Attached to each product listing page under info & guides is the "Use & Care Manual". In Daily Maintenance please see below: Daily Maintenance 1. Sweep dust mop or vacuum your floor regularly to remove any particles that could cause abrasion or scratch your floor. CAUTION: Vacuums with a beater bar or power rotary brush head can damage a floor and should never be used. 2.Apply appropriate cleaning solution to the cleaning cloth / mop. Use a cleaner specifically manufactured for hardwood flooring. Do Not Use Water or Vinegar. Do NOT apply directly to the floor. • For tougher spots, use a higher concentration of isopropyl alcohol and distilled water. • For extreme cases, a solution of nail polish remover (acetone) and distilled water can be used. HINT: For best results, clean the floor in the same direction of the planks. When the cleaning cloth/mop becomes soiled, rinse or replace it with a clean one. Following up with a clean, dry cloth will remove residual streak marks and spots. 3. Do NOT leave any amount of liquids (water, juice, soft drinks, spills, etc.) on the floor. Clean any wet spots immediately. 4. Do NOT use a steam cleaner. 5. Do NOT use a wet mop or douse floor with water or liquid cleaners. Liquid can seep between the cracks and cause moisture damage. 6. Do NOT use any cleaning agents containing wax, oil or polish. Left over residue will form a dull film. 7. Do NOT use steel wool or scouring powder which will scratch the floor. Branded or Off-the-shelf Floor Care Products • If none of the above are effective and you choose to use a store bought product, test the product in a non conspicuous area (i.e., closet, corner, or scrap pieces) for potential adverse side effects.
The entire Malibu Wide Plank Collection of Engineered & Solid Hardwood Flooring is extremely durable, easy to clean, easy to maintain, and a great investment in your home that will return your hard earned dollars in the long run over other flooring alternatives.
There are ways to prevent scratches on Hardwood Flooring by taking proper precautions to protect furniture and chair legs and feet with felt protectors. Scratching to any hard surface floor may occur if proper precautions are not taken, here are a few steps we suggest: Protect your floor when using a dolly for moving furniture or appliances. Never slide or roll heavy furniture or appliances across the floor. • Place protective pads beneath furniture legs and other heavy objects. • Minimize abrasive material and dirt by placing mats on both sides of exterior doors and by using area rugs in high traffic areas • Use protective mats beneath rolling chairs and keep furniture casters clean. • Keep pets’ nails trimmed. • Remove shoes with cleats, spikes or exceptionally pointy heels before walking on the floor.
