I have a 10/12 pitch roof. Can I still use this even though it says designed for 8/12 roof pitch? What's concern? It seems it has a high enough lip to keep rainwater flowing down from getting in.

What size screen cover do I get for this? We're replacing our old one as it started making noise the same day we decided to replace our roof. Figured I'd fix everything while I have guys up there. The current fan has a wire mesh cover, is it needed?

How does the fan work when there is snow on the roof.?

You don't want to run this in winter. It's for venting heat and humidity from the attc in summer. We turn ours off when it gets cool probably early/mid-October and don't turn it on again until probably late May in the St Louis area.

You DO want to run this with a combo thermostat/humidistat. During winter it'll vent moisture/humidity that occurs, preventing any ice buildup on the underside of roof sheathing and helps reduce ice dams from freeze/thaw when sun comes out in the winter.

                    (1)

The fan circulates the moist air out, helping to prevent frost inside the attic and ice dams.

Installed and runs ok, better construction than others we looked at. Combo humidity and temp stat needs some type of interlock to prevent running when its cold but humidity high like when snowing.

I like the new attic fan, and having the thermostat as well as the humidifier controls. I called a Pro from Home Depot and they installed it for me. Why, I'm 80 and when I told my sister what I was about to do, as you can imagine, I was in deep doo doo and hence called a youngster to climb up on the roof and install. He said it was easy, took him all of about 15 miniutes.

Short Wire for Controller & Leaking in Hard Rain
The wire that comes from Fan to Adapter/Controller is so short that you have to attach it near the top pf the attic and you can never get there to adjust temperature and humidity. Very user un-friendly. Why could they not provide an additional 6 feet of wire with controller is beyond me. It is not advisable to use joints to extend the wires in the attic. This makes that fan utterly useless as you can't adjust temp or humidity if you have a high attic, which is generally the case. Furthermore, during heavy rain, I've observed water seeping into the attic after splashing from the circular barrier of the fan (which is attached to the roof), then traveling upward beneath the hood through the exhaust holes meant for air.

Since hot air rises, positioning the unit as per our installation instruction provides the most accurate performance. Please email, masterflowtech@gaf.com for any other questions or concerns you may have, thank you. MasterFlow
