Q:I have a ridge vent but the air in the attic is so hot I am looking for more cooling solutions. There are no obstructed soffits, I believe the "natural flow of air" just isn't enough in Florida to keep the attic cool. Would an electric attic fan be ok?
        by|Sep 10, 2023

        Answer This Question

A:  You could add an electric fan, base the purchase on the attic square footage, remember if you are adding a fan you will need to close off the ridge vent. If you have any inquiries about Master Flow products please email MasterFlowTech@gaf.com

Great fan - works like a charm - very quiet
Thanks to the other reviewers who offered advice on how to install using a wooden platform vs. just attaching to studs. (It would not have reached anyway.) I think that is the secret to quiet operation. There is a bedroom just below and the fan runs well into the night and it can not be heard while sleeping. Unlike the the previous fan which was very loud! Very pleased with the purchase.

Solid unit. Quiet noise with a low deep hmmm. Much quieter then a AC condensing unit. Moves a lot of air. Dropped the temp in our 700 sq foot attic by 10 degrees in about 1 hour. Simple to install with the provided template.

It’s more quite than a attic fan
I was worried about been loud like the attic fan because I mounted above my kids rooms. After the installation I when down to the rooms and can’t heard or feel any vibration like the attic fan. Today 6/22/22 was a cool day so didn’t turned on. The old attic fan had it set up to stop when the attic get 90* and for this fan I set it up at 85* now I have to wait for a hot day to see how long it will run. Couldn’t upload the video but it’s nice a quiet

So far its doing its job it's a pretty powerful fan. I can't hear it unless I'm in the garage but other than that I'm happy

              Already reduced my attic temperature!
I bought this fan to replace a 30 year old similar model that died. The garage attic shares a wall with my son's room and is accessed via a cheap indoor hollow core door (I'm almost certain the builder was related to the code inspector). So with the attic over 120 degrees, his room is hot. It took me about 90 minutes to find the right breaker, uninstall the old one, cut some extra 2x4 for clearance, and install and wire the new one. I didn't do anything fancy, it's just place right over the old rectangular fixed louver. After about 30 minutes, the temp has already dropped 10 degrees. Notes: As Mike below points out, this doesn't come with the clamp to hold the Romex. Glad I watched the installation video before ordering, because they mention this. Considering it would have added about 25 cents to the cost, I have no idea why. I just ordered 3/8 in. Non-Metallic (NM) Twin-Screw Cable Clamp Connectors (5-Pack) along with the fan. Also *Mike*, THE BOX IS NOT SEALED. See the indentation along the side of the box in my photo. Put your finger behind the box about the height where the indentation is and lift the cover gently away from the box and toward you to remove. If you don't keep a garage full of basic building/electrical supplies and you aren't replacing a fan don't forget wood screw for installation and wire nuts.

                Worked well for 6 years.
Replace old fan this unit in about 2014. (2200 sq.ft. attic) Noticed this summer wasn't working. Froze up. Probably worn bearing. Good calculation providing the 5 yr warranty. Going to buy another one just like it, nevertheless, because it will be easier to throw the new one into the existing drum.

                  very quiet
been outside and my other old fan that quit that i got from a store that rhymes with blows was really loud, sounded like a helicopter taking off. this fan is quiet. it is metal, looks of better quality and hopefully helps with our attic that is scorching hot. im happy so far, keeping box just in case!!

Excellent, little bigger than what I needed. Super Quiet and set at 95°, house is cooler and air unit doesn't work as hard!
