Product Details

The GAF Master Flow 500/900 CFM Solar-Powered Roof-Mount Exhaust Fan will help remove excess heat and moisture from your attic to protect your roofing system from premature deterioration. The Dual Powered unit will run on free solar power (500 CFM) when the sun is shining on the solar panel but will automatically switch to house power (900CFM) if it is cloudy or nighttime. Hot attic air is removed by the fan as fresh air is drawn in through your existing intake vents. On house power the 24 volt DC brushless motor is extremely efficient as it uses 75% less power than a typical wired attic fan. With the Dual Powered unit, you have the best of both worlds! The impact resistant, 10 watt solar panel has a tilt and swivel design to provide ideal sun exposure. Recommended usage for this unit is one unit per 1000 sq. ft. of attic space with a minimum intake ventilation of 240 sq. in. of net free area.

  • 120 volt AC connection required

            Good hhybrid solution
Easy to install. but in my case I retrofit it into an existing AC attic fan whose motor burnt out. So I can't say how a "from scratch" install would be. I do notice the attic still pretty hot, but to be fair this fan is not rated for the large space I'm trying to cool. I like that it's a hybrid solution, so will run on the solar panel whenever there is sun, and will go to AC when there's no sun. The verdict is out on the durability/reliability, as I just installed it a month ago.

            Cools off the upstairs
Very easy install, solar power starting working before the fan was even installed fully. Removed super heated air immediately felt the difference upstairs within an hour when the ceiling fans were operating as well. The constant air movement is wonderful for keeping the upstairs livable.
