With no instructions it takes a bit of wrestling into shape and I found that a few lengths of aluminum tape and a couple of clamps (one for each end) a definite asset. One comment I would like to make regarding the stocking method; it's a nested product with a total weight of over 60 pounds so why does it have to be stocked on a shelf that's around 48" off the ground? Dangerous is probably an appropriate term for this stocking method. What's wrong with stocking it at ground level allowing one to simply slide each piece upwards to free it from the nest?

I was concerned about this product's ability to stay together given the reviews. So, I went to HomeDepot and decided to assemble them at the store. If they wouldn't stay together, I wouldn't purchase them. The first one was the worst, it wouldn't stay together until I understood what I was doing wrong. I was trying to start at one edge and work my way towards the other end. It doesn't stay together. However, I discovered how it is done, and worked perfectly. 1. Place the metal duct on a horizontal surface. I decided to put the crimped side to my right so that the "male" interlock would be facing away from me, and I would be pushing it into the "female" side. 2. I started the locking the duct at the middle. To do that, you bend it (without permanently deforming it) to form an oval rather than a circle. The interlocks would look like the top of a heart. Then with one hand holding the middle just guide both ends to make sure they come together. 3. As you start taking the pressure from the middle, both ends will lock, but the middle section will want to disengage (not completely, you won't see a gap but, it won't be completely closed as the ends). 4. from the ends that are snapped and using both hands (one on each side of the snap) put pressure inwards to snap the ends. Work from one end towards the middle. Once you get to the middle work your way from the other extreme to the middle. They form a very close snap and don't come apart. Just to be sure, I waited some time without putting screws, tape or mastic just to make sure they wouldn't disengage. They didn't. They are snapped really well. I don't know if other pipes are easier to work with, but while the first one took me a long time, the forth one was a quick assembly. I got what I needed, and so far is working as it should be.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from dented and warped-but that was all they had and I have to have one section! I had to have one joint of pipe to finish a job, was already at HD picking up other things and did not have time to drive all over town looking for another section of duct. The two sections they had in stock were both dented and warped. I asked the associate for a discount because of the additional time it would take me to straighten the pipe and get it in usable condition. He said no. The cashier did knock off $1 when I asked her for a discount.
