Q:Does this timer need a connector?

A:  Not at all. It connects directly to the water spigot and the hose. This is a great timer. It takes a while for the battery run out as well.

    A:  It has hose fittings on both ends. Just screw onto spigot and attach hose.

      A:  I usually use a medium-sized flat head screwdriver with its flat part about 1/4" wide, and leverage one of the battery compartment plastic tabs in a slow, upward motion. Hope this helps!

            A:  I've looked and looked, on the meter and in the instructions, does not say! Soory no help!! However, this from melnor website: "Melnor was started in 1946 by Norman, Louie, and Sam Seiden. Melnor got its start in the lawn and garden industry because of Norman. As a mechanical engineer, Norman saw the sprinklers of his time only watered the middle of the lawn. The corners of the yard would still get dry. Wanting to change this, Norman invented an oscillating sprinkler to saturate the corners and protect the center from getting muddy. " And, their Customer Service is located in Winchester, Virginia. In addition, there's a SEVEN YEAR WARRANTY on my meter! Sounds as American as you can get! Hope this helps!

              This battery powered programmable timer for watering really helps conserve water. If we need to program it to water a specific area at a specified time and for a preset amount of time it really works great. However, my wife most generally uses it for watering a given area with a little sprinkler for about a half an hour and that works best for her. She sets the timer to run for thirty minutes so all she has to do is push the ‘Manual’ button and then the ‘OK’ and she knows it will water that area for thirty minutes and shut off and doesn’t have to worry about over watering should she forget to come back to shut it off. I recommend programming the timer before hooking the timer up to the hose bib. It is a lot easier to program for the day, time and duration when sitting at a table than when you are kneeling in front of the hose bib. You can test it out without it being connected to the hose bib as the valve in the timer gives an audible click when it opens or closes. I also recommend hooking the hose to the timer first and then hook the timer to the hose bib. It is fairly easy to cross thread the hose on the male fitting on the timer connection but the female connector on the timer is more substantial and much less prone to being cross threaded.

              Wonderful to be able to set the watering schedule and not have to run out first thing in the morning or late at night to turn the sprinkler on and off. It even lets you set to skip watering if it rains. And there is a manual mode so you can hand water when necessary. Nice heavy construction, I think it will hold up well. Takes 2 AA batteries. Now we will be ready for a long, hot summer without worrying about our lawn an garden beds drying out.

              I have a garden and several raised beds, trying to keep these watered is a chore. This timer allows me to set my irrigation times regularly and the amount of water. It is easy to set and if you want to manually water at any time you can set to manual, give it the minutes and over-ride as needed. The read-out is clear, easy to set up. This water timer works well for me
