A:  I have something like 6 of these in various hard-to-water areas of our flowerbeds. They're perfect for those spots and I keep several on hand for when they give up the ghost. Also use them around some trees and spot-watering places. Best of these small area type sprinklers.

A:  Yes. but of course any wind and the pattern is not so square. The pattern is caused by the size of the little holes in the top plate I think, not the spinning wheel. The wheel just seems to cause the water to be evenly disbursed within the square.

A:  Yes, it is a square pattern (or at least a rectangle). Keep in mind that the edges get less water than the interior does.

A:  No, it is actually still circular, but is adjustable in diameter allowing good coverage with a small overflow.

A:  The square spray is determined by the placement of the holes.

                by|Aug 16, 2021

A:  Yes, it really does produce a (roughly) square pattern. The holes are punched in a circular array, but the holes directed toward the far corners of the square are LARGER in (hole) diameter than the holes directed toward the near sides of the square. This has been done in a carefully designed way so the diagonal holes generate larger jets of water that travel roughly 1.4 times as far as the holes directed toward the edges. The holes grow smaller by gradation toward the edges and larger in gradations toward the corners. It's not a perfect square but for this price, what do you expect? It is surprisingly "square like." You can vary the water flow to increase it up to maximum distance (17 feet or so) or reduce the flow to get something maybe 30% smaller (10 feet?) and the pattern is still roughly square. Clever design. The spinning blade is there to "chop" the water jets short so they cover not only the edges of the square, but throw droplets over every spot within the square as well.

I recently bought this sprinkler and I’ve been using it for about a week now. I am very satisfied with the quality and the durability as well as the performance of the sprinkler. I would recommend it to others.

The actual square sprinkler was manufactured by Gilmour. The screw/rivet that holds the circulating fan on top the sprinkler fails after a season or two every time I purchase one. I think I am on my 5th square sprinkler. I have a need for a square sprinkler but having to replace it every season is burdensome. Sometimes a square sprinkler is not available.

This product requires a very good filter to continue working, the very small holes easily clog and distort the pattern. Please try and find some descent sprinklers made in the U. S. A.
