Great operation, breaks easily
Bad gaskets all around. Sand can foul it up in a heartbeat. Impossible to repair. Why not engineer it with metal valve covers, and snaps instead of threaded fasteners? The screws loosen internally and can’t be maintained by the customer. Otherwise the idea of having a thumb operated valve is novel. But the construction is too complicated and frail.

    Bad construction
Works well for a couple weeks/ months or so, starts to leak, then when you try to tighten the nozzle to stop the leak the weak strip of plastic holding the most crucial part easily tears off. This happened twice to me… we be finding a different one for sure.

Rotating flow selector head breaks and can't be repaired
I've had two of these nozzles and they both broke irreparably. The plastic part that holds the rotating flow selector head to the handle breaks. The first one broke after a couple of weeks, so I took it back to Home Depot for an exchange. The second one broke after less than a month of use. See photo for illustration of brokenness. The nozzle is easy to use (when it works, which is a short time) and I like the ability to change spray patterns. I actually used only three of the eight patterns.

        Did not last
I used it about 3 times. Not sure what happened but the nozzle detached itself and water came out from everywhere. I highly suggest not buying this product.

          Thumb trigger sprays water
I've had this product for 2 months for general backyard use. I like the design of the product . However, last week, for some reason it started spraying water from where the thumb trigger and the handle . I've tried to push on the sides of the trigger but that only slows the spraying. I'll be returning this to the store since it's still in the return window. So, look somewhere else if you want reliability.

            Not worth the money
Bought one of these and it lasted 3 weeks, before it started shooting jets of water out of the sides (where the off/on thumb valve rotates). Give the product a pass. General note, I've bought and used several hose nozzles that Home Depot sells, basic pistol types to fancy spray patterns, plastic and metal. Just about all the ones offered at Home Depot end up leaking or break within a few months. I'm shopping somewhere else from now on. Going to find a hose nozzle made in America... not the cheap ones Home Depot sells. Waste of money and more importantly a HUGE waste of time.

                DONT BUY IT!! SERIOUSLY!!
I got this 3 weeks ago and it’s garbage! Leaks on the valve so bad to the point you can’t use it. I’ve bought this one cause I tought it would last more than the other ones you need to keep pressing to release water but it just leaks water everywhere.

The Melnor Thumb Control 8-Pattern Nozzle is a nice nozzle. It took a while for me to get used to using it because you use your thumb to control it and it only turns off when you turn it off with your thumb. I like the 8 different patterns it has and it has not leaked at all since using it. If you are looking for a solid little nozzle, but don't want to spend a lot of money, this is a great one to get.

Over the years I have tried and used many types of hose nozzles here at my home in Florida. I have a pool and lots of plants on my pool deck and in flower beds in my yard. I was very interested to get and try this 8-pattern nozzle for the many types of water uses/projects I have here. The first thing I noticed and liked was the on/off valve was quite different than most nozzles I have used in the past. Very easy to use with just your thumb to open and close the water flow and get it to the just needed volume of water. The mist and shower patterns were perfect for watering my plants. The jet and full nozzles were great for washing off my pool deck and pool cage screens. So am am quite pleased and impressed with this nozzle.

I got this Melnor Thumb control 8-pattern nozzle to replace an older 8 pattern nozzle that had a trigger handle. I really like the thumb control on this model. You can easily adjust the water flow and not have to hold a trigger down or turning those knobs to adjust the water pressure. Not sure why I haven't bought a thumb control nozzle years ago. The nozzle seems durable enough so far to last.

I like this nozzle a lot. Very well made and durable. Plus, it has a variety of useful spray patterns. I can use it to clean my car, water the garden, and spray my flowers. The only thing I am still not too sure about is the thumb control. It works perfectly, but compared to the other nozzles I have used in the past that have a squeeze trigger, IMHO, this takes a little more effort. Other than that, I am expecting many years of service from a well-known and reliable brand of garden equipment.

This Melnor RelaxGrip spray nozzle is the very first one that I have purchased that does not have a squeeze trigger for activating the water flow. It comes with a thumb control that you just flip up for “on” and the water stays on until you flip it back down to shut it off. It has eight different spray settings to choose from, which is ideal from soaking plants to lightly showering them to having a full jet stream if you require the need for full pressure. I installed mine by the poolside deck for hosing down that area, cleaning up pool supplies and equipment or just for the kids to mess around with on a hot day. It provides a good seal where it attaches to the hose whereas water only comes out of the spray nozzle and nowhere else. It works great.

This item is a very heavy duty metallic water nozzle with 8 separate patterns to choose between all the way from misting to straight water jet. Our water pressure has a reduction valve in the home so I worried whether it would be powerful enough but no problems and does not leak like some cheapies I have had in the past. I also thought the flow control would be hard to move but it is not. Cleaned the yard mower up great and then was gentle on our plants.

I love this hose sprayer! I have a pretty huge yard with lots of bushes and trees that need to be watered. The thumb control on this sprayer really helps prevent my hand from going numb. When i use a traditional sprayer, where you have to hold down the handle, my hand hurts after a while. With this one the i just need to set the flow with my thumb and that is it. Plus the large grip of the sprayer fits well in my hand.

This is a really nice nozzle. It has a lot (8) of spray patterns. I primarily use the JET and the garden one. It is unique. All of my previous hose nozzles had a trigger that you pulled back to activate the water and you had to hold it the whole time you were spraying. This, on the other hand, has a little lever that you slide up and down with your thumb to activate the water. One you set it the water stays on until you push it back down again. Great design once you are used to it!

I've used a LOT of hose nozzels and this one is probably the best, even compared to "pro" types. I have 'bad' hands and had no trouble screwing it onto the hose end - and no leaks. I was really amazed and the ease of my ability to hold it and control the flow of water. If you need to reach or knock something down from tree height or gently water some flowers, this one does the trick. WOW. Glad I ordered it.

This water nozzle is an upgrade to my last model made by the same company. My previous one only had 5 selections were as this one has 8. My last one did start to leak from the hose connection end, but to be far I think I could have prolong the life if I would have stored the nozzle in the garage for the winter. I also believe like most water connections the washer life was past its time as well (as the picture indicates). I also noticed most of these manufacturers are moving towards the thumb triggers rather than the old full hand triggers like my old model. No biggie there, just something to get use too as long as it performs well. Overall, I’m already on the plus side of this review simply due to the extra water selections. Only time will tell if the leakproof holds.

First, I love the mechanism for activating the nozzle. I don't have to hold down pressure on a handle at a specific position to maintain a fixed spray intensity. Just rotate the switch until you get the volume you need and it stays there. It looks to be well made. The aluminum is polished which is new to me. Most aluminum nozzles use bare cast aluminum that oxidizes. I've included some pictures of the different spray patterns. The only one I didn't include was SOAKER which was actually kind of lame. I'm not sure what it was supposed to be but it just kind of sputtered out the nozzle. But the rest were well defined and projected the water well.

Super well made nozzle. I was very pleased to find a galvinized steel body. It has a very nicely made pattern spray head. I was very surprised at how well made this is. The grip fits my hand nicely and is comfortable to hold. Which is a big plus as I have arthritis. Finally a worthwhile spray nozzle for my hose. Very pleased with the design and function of this nozel.

I've had quite a few garden hose spray nozzles and this one beside the normal indestructible brass twist nozzle kind, is becoming my favorite. My recent one which broke is almost identical to this design, Thumb lever which turn it off and one and doubles as a pressure selector. The older identical one, the thumb lever was not stiff enough so it would always turn on and end up spraying me, but this lever takes a bit of force to move it up and down which is nice cause it will stay at the setting in which you left it at. This nozzle is also a bit on it heavier side and doesn't seem to be made of all plastic like others. I like the back tactile grip which when its wet, still provides a good grip in my hand. There are numerous spray selector modes which is nice for when you are washing the car or water some plants. Not sure if the bottom where it screws into the hose is pewter or plastic but it seems durable. Really nice for the price!

Item arrived in a well packaged box. The nozzle is made of aluminum and has a nice polypropylene grip. I like the eight different spray settings. There is plenty of pressure from each setting of the nozzle, so it can be used for many different watering jobs. The rear thumb trigger is a real plus. Simply push forward to turn on the water and then push back turn off the water. You can control the water flow with the trigger as well. No more having to hold the trigger constantly to water is a relief. I used the Jet setting to clean my A/C condenser, after applying a condenser cleaner. There was plenty of pressure from the Jet setting to clean the unit. I also used the Shower setting to water some plants. I am not disappointed thus far and recommend this nozzle for purchase.

I’ve been starting several new flower and vegetable beds during the last couple months and spending a lot of time hand watering. I got this sprayer to make it an easier chore and it’s an awesome upgrade over my old one. Set the target pressure by pushing the tab forward, then just and water until you want to switch it off - so no sore hands squeezing the handle the entire time you're watering. Lots of different settings - great for watering new seeds, and for cleaning out and refilling the bird bath!

I’m very happy with this nozzle. The different sprayers and great for doing different jobs. My favorite is the shower option to water plants, it puts out a good amount of water while being gentle. The full and jet settings are nice when you need some power like cleaning off the patio etc. some of the settings I don’t use often but it is very nice to have different options for situations that arise. I really like the on off lever instead of the squeeze handle. It has a rubber finger grip to help you to move it which takes a little thumb strength but I like that because it doesn’t feel like it’s going to break right away like others I have used.

I really like the Melnor Thumb Control 8-Pattern Nozzle. I have had the nozzle for only a couple of weeks, but the 8-watering patterns makes it easier to water plants, wash the car, fil a bucket, rinse off garden tools or water small patches of grass than with a single pattern nozzle. The thumb control is so much nicer than holding a squeeze handle for an extended period of time and the nozzle does not drip water when the thumb control is shut off. The nozzle is nice and big and fits my large hands perfectly. But, my wife has a much smaller hand and finds the thumb control somewhat difficult to move with one hand.

The Melnor Thumb Control 8 Pattern Nozzle comes with a gasket. It is easy to use. Both the different spray adjustments and the thumb adjustment work smoothly and easily. I mostly use the soaker, shower, full and jet settings. It is easy to hold and adjust. I have two acres and do a lot of gardening so having a reliable hose nozzle set up is critical to not waste time and have the spray I want when I want it. My husband uses it to wash the cars and likes it too. Highly recommend.

The nozzle features an attractive look and nice feeling ergonomic one hand grip. Eight spray applications are available by just turning the adjustment knob on the head of the product. The nozzle can easily be turned on with one hand with a simple forward and back thumb motion. Once on the nozzle is on each of the eight spray applications can be easily selected by turning the face of the nozzle. When washing cars I find it very handy to use the shower spray application to wet the car down and the full blast application to rinse it off after washing. The product appears to be very durable.

This sprayer has a very sturdy metal design and lots of good spray options. I really like the thumb control over the trigger control you find on most sprayers. I've been so frustrated trying to soak my trees with that kind of sprayer because the little prop behind the trigger doesn't work very well. This one on the other hand with its nice thumb valve stays at the volume you want without any effort. This definatly feels like something quality that will last me for years to come.
