At suggested maximum distance at our long driveway alarm does pick up well. Only 3 stars because it is not very loud and is very high pitched. Purchased a second alarm station but still in some parts of house only our dog can hear the high tone. At least she barks to let us know!

Works as advertised!
Works as advertised! We are on a multi-acre property and have one transmitter at the gate and 2 extras of the receivers in various buildings. We have a clear line of site to our gate, which is about 500' away from the various out buildings and the system works just fine. The transmitter is AA battery operated, the receivers have transformers to plug into 120V outlets. I do wish the receivers had different chime choices, but they do not. This product gets the job done though!

I love the idea of the driveway alarm, however I had to return it, because I couldn't meet distance from metal requirements and the false alarms were constant. I tried moving it around but between culverts, electric lines, and the gate my driveway is not ideal for this system. I believe it could be perfect for an others, if their driveway is free from metal.

Hi Melissa, thank you for that insight. We do appreciate your comments and yes metal can cause false alarms. Thank you for trying.

This product is finicky. Sometimes it detects driveway visitors, sometimes it doesn't. It takes quite a bit of trial and error to find a solution that works reliably. That means burying, unburying, moving, and re-burying the detector several times over. The 400 foot range assumes that there are no obstacles like windows or walls. If you want to mount the base station inside of your house, the range is greatly reduced. And 400 feet is not really that far -- when I hear the alarm and put on my shoes, the visitor is already getting out of their car and walking to the front door. Finally the volume of the alarm is very, very, low. Even when turned to full volume, you had better be in the same room as the base station if you want to hear the alarm. We bought two base stations to put upstairs and downstairs because the alarm volume is so low. We also had to put the base station in the front window, otherwise the detector and base station don't communicate.
