Asked by: HDdude
HDdude, Thank you for posting your question. Yes, the Mighty Mule Photo Beam Sensors do require some trenching to bury the wire of the sensors. Please refer to the installation guide on the Photo Beam Sensors product page to see a full installation overview. The installation guide is located under "Info & Guide" on this products page. Why not compatible with solar powered systems?

The specs say that these sensors are not compatible with solar powered systems. Is that because they will drain the battery faster than the solar array can keep up with, or is it because the solar array can over-voltage the sensors?
Asked by: dtc
Hello Denno, Thank you for posting your question! That is correct the Photo Beam Sensor (model # R4222) are not compatible with solar powered systems. The Photo Beam Senors require a constant power source, and would continually drain your battery if used with a solar powered gate opener system. For any additional questions please contact our Technical Support Team. Our Mighty Mule Technical Support Team can be reached at (800) 543 -1236. Thank you!
