The Milwaukee 1-1/2 in. 1-Piece Carbide Cutters feature carbide teeth for longer life and smooth cuts in stainless steel and other hard metals. Another addition for the job
I am really liking this series of holesaws for cutting metal by Milwaukee. I used to be strictly Bosch or Diablo but I am really impressed by Milwaukees quality. The spring on the pilot bit works great so metal doesn’t get stuck in the hole saw. Removing a sharp piece of metal is just risky but the spring helps it to be easily removed. The teeth are really sharp and all the teeth are still there. It did not over heat once and the piece I cut was cool to the touch. I did use a punch after my first hole because the pilot bit walked a little on me on the first try. I definitely recommend making sure the extra control handle when drilling holes is on so if it gets binded you won’t get hurt. Great tool and can’t wait to see what Milwaukee makes next.

Stays sharp and cuts good
I got several of these carbide holesaw‘s because I needed to cut different size holes in metal. And I have to admit I am impressed. This smaller holesaw is much easier to control than the larger size. And I feel like it’s less stress on the drill. It does cut some decently clean holes. A few of mine were a little rough but that was my fault because I did not do a punch first. If I would have done it with a punch first the pilot but would not have drifted a little bit. These holesaw‘s are awesome though because they have a good spring on the pilot bit that pushes out the cut out material. And that is definitely my favorite feature. I’ve cut myself with metal so many times and it’s good to see that the feature is there and it works. Another good thing is it comes with an Allen wrench to change out the pilot bit if it wears out. I did one hole on a stainless steel sink and it works great and I was impressed because stainless steel is tough material. I’ve used it for at least six holes and it’s still sharp and the pilot bit is still good. This size is much more friendlier on a regular half-inch chuck drill. I also used a larger hole saw like this and it was a lot tougher to control. These are nice tools and you’ll be happy when you actually have them when you need them.

Good hole saw
Very large hole saw. You know the circle you’re drilling out is serious business when the hole saw is in a box instead of a plastic. For anybody using a holesaw like this take it very seriously because it’s hard not to bind up when doing such a big hole. It’s a very good quality holesaw and even the pilot bit is high-quality. I had to cut some holes into some thin steel and I did the holes no problem. I made sure though to add the handle to my drill though for more stability and control because it’s size could definitely get you hurt. My favorite feature about it is the pilot bit has a spring on it which pushes out the sharp jagged edge to piece that is drilled out. That spring has definitely helped me not to get cut or poked. I do feel though that this holesaw might be too big for a regular drill because it is a little heavy. I did use it with a regular half inch drill and I can definitely hear the tough stop it does when letting go of the trigger. I was able to cut out the hole no problem and it is still sharp as can be. One thing I do suggest is also using a punch to make a small dent in the center of the area you plan to drill. Because the pilot but did dance around on me like a 1/4 inch which was still fine but did a punch first on the next one and it worked great. Definitely worth the money and should last a very long time.

Wow! Beautiful tool!
This is a beautifully crafted hole cutter. Unlike most hole saws, this has carbide teeth. In my limited experience with it, this results in significantly cleaner cuts with less chatter and almost no burr on the exit side of the cut. It is made for metal, so will only cut to a maximum depth of just under 1/2" (.425" to be precise). It doesn't replace the hole saws used for wood which can cut up to 2" depth of cut. The package includes an RPM guide, but it is printed VERY small. For maximum tool life, these speed guidelines should be followed as closely as possible. The cutter includes a hex key for the pilot bit. The cutter also includes a spring around the pilot bit which does a surprisingly good job of keeping the inner piece from getting jammed inside the cutter, but does tend to pick up stray material from the pilot cut. The cutting edges are angled slightly towards the inside so that the hole is clean and the center piece which is cut out still has a small amount of cutting 'swarf' attached to it (see the picture).

Strong, high quality bit
As with virtually all Milwaukee products, quality is a non-issue. This is a high quality bit in every sense of the term. Heavy, high quality materials and design that easily drives through stainless steel, copper and aluminum. The cut is clean and accurate, and the blade promises to offer a ton of service before it would ever need to be replaced. Highly recommend for any job.

Carbide tough ensures long life
Carbide tough ensures long life for this 1-1/8" hole cutter I use primarily for 3/4" conduit fittings. It will cut most metal panels that are up to 1/8". It features a shoulder to prevent "punch through" when the hole is complete, the result of which could cause accidental damage to interior components not to mention the sudden twisting of your wrist when all control is lost. My favorite feature though is the spring loaded pilot bit that "spits" out the resulting slug so you don't have to struggle to clear the tool.

This is a great hole cutter for electrical boxes. Quite often the knockout locations on a larger piece of electrical equipment such as a circuit breaker panel aren’t where you need an opening. Perhaps your wiring or conduit would work better and be cleaner if it entered the box in a different location. It is usually allowable to drill additional holes in these panels as long as they don’t interfere with other components or interior parts and it is done in a “workmanlike manor”. Actually, many electrical panels don’t even come with knockouts at all, and the electrician is expected to cut them in where needed. This 1-1/8 inch size Milwaukee hole cutter is the perfect size for 3/4-inch EMT fittings, NM cable clamps and other fittings that are designed to fit the “3/4 inch” hole into electrical boxes and enclosures. The best part is that it works great. It is carbide-tipped, so it works fast and cuts a clean precise hole, unlike hole saws. Little if any filing is needed to remove burrs. It also works well for drilling holes in steel studs, since often there are no factory holes in the studs where you need to run conduit The cutter portion of this tool is removable from the pilot bit in case it needs replacement or sharpening, and an allen wrench is also included for that purpose. It is also designed with a spring around the pilot bit to pop out the center slug. I would have liked to see this item contained in a box that was durable enough for long-term use and would protect it, with the speed chart permanently attached to the box. I take good care of my tools and expect them to last a long time, and a good storage case shouldn’t be too much to ask for the price. I found this cutter to be well designed, and should be a real time-saver as opposed to a traditional knock-out set. I suggest using it like a traditional hole saw and drilling straight to avoid binding, and don’t exceed the recommended speed. For most users with battery drills this will seem very slow, but I suspect going too fast would damage the cutter and create an undesirable cut.

I tested a 7/8” and 3” hole cutter on both steel and aluminum. Both surfaces were old concrete chutes off of mixer trucks, which were a little thicker than an eighth of an inch. First off, the tool itself is great quality, from the carbide hole cutter itself to the pilot bit and spring, it’s a very well built tool. Cutting through both the aluminum and steel were super easy taking less than 30 seconds a cut. It really cut through the aluminum like butter. The pilot bit is great and I didn’t even punch a starter hole to get it started. The spring ejects the cut out piece upon completion of the hole like magic. It really is a high quality, well thought out tool. The shank on the 3” hole saw will not fit in a 3/8” drill, it has to be a half inch. Other than that i didn’t notice any difference between the two different sizes. Both of them come with an allen wrench to remove the pilot bit and spring and both of them have stop shoulder which limits cuts to 3/16” depth. If you’re trying to go deeper than that, this isn’t the hole saw for you.

It can be used on brass, aluminum, iron, mild steel or stainless metals. These saws do a great job with thin nail embedded wood also. It has a built in arbor with a three sided shank to lock into a drill chuck and a replaceable center drill bit with a built in spring to help remove the center cutout. They even supply a hex key to remove the center drill bit. This makes removing the plug much easier and less time consuming. I expect to get many years of service life from this quality tool and is a great addition to my collection of hole cutters and drill bits. The carbide hole cutter comes in fifteen different sizes from 3/4 to 4 1/2 inches in diameter.

The Milwaukee 2 in. Carbide Hole Cutter (1-Pack) is great for cutting holes in a various amounts of metals. Nice sharp teeth make quick work and the centering drill bit is spring loaded to help assist in the removal of the plug created by the drilling process. Comes with an Alan key to allow for the shank to be removed from the cutting head. Works great.

Beautifully clean cuts in mild steel and aluminum (haven't tried brass, copper, or stainless steel yet). The built-in spring assist along with the access holes makes removing the cutoff much easier than that of the typical hole saw design. The carbide teeth are very sharp and there's almost no chatter after the initial contact with the material. Only downside is you can't use this for coping anything larger than 3/16" because the should is very shallow.

Amazingly clean cuts through mild steel and aluminum (haven't tried other metals yet.) This hole saw makes great cuts in the softer metals. Almost no chatter after the initial cut. The pilot bit holds the saw very true and the included spring with the access holes makes removing the cutoff material easy. I would not use this for wood because the depth of cut is only about 1/2", but if you did I imagine it would be just as clean as on metal. The only downside I can see is that you can't use this for coping metal tubing due to the shallow shoulder.

The precision machined hole cutter diameter is 1-3/8” (1.375”) leaving a net hole diameter of 1-49/128” (1.383”) – tested cuts in both aluminum and mild steel. There are 8 carbide tips on this hole saw The stepped pilot bit has an initial diameter of 11/64” stepping up to 15/64” The 3 flat shank fits 3/8” & 1/2" chucks. The “stop shoulder” helps prevent punching through the cut material - the shoulder is about 1/2" from the carbide cutter tips, the depth of the cut however is limited by the compression spring around the pilot bit. – compressed – the SPRING bottoms out, limiting the cut depth to 3/16”.

I recently received the MILWAUKEE 1-1/2 IN. CARBIDE HOLE CUTTER (1-PACK). This is a high quality tool, very well made. I build a lot of nesting boxes for Bluebirds, that require 1 1/2" hole. This bit has 6 carbine tip cutting edges which make for a very clean hole. it is design to cut 1/2 " deep, but I can flip the board to cut through 3/4" stock with easy.. I would recommend this bit.

This Milwaukee 1-1/4-inch carbide hole cutter is just one of many sizes of hole cutters made for Milwaukee. Carbide used is top notch and sharp right out of the blister pack. If you are tired of having to struggle using bimetallic hole cutters step up to Milwaukee’s carbide tipped hole cutters especially if you will be cutting dozens of holes on a project.

Milwaukee 1-1/8” Carbide hole saw The hole saw is a small and compact design. The tool comes with the Allen key that is required to replace the pilot bit. The hole saw is stainless steel for a long lasting life. The compact deign makes it easy to use with no walking across the work area. The bit is sharp and cuts well and is carbide finished for long lasting use. The hole saw has a shoulder to keep the bit from pushing through the completed hole and int the work below the penetration The bit is designed to be used with at least a 3/8” drill chuck diameter. The replacement of the pilot bit is a quick and simple operation. The spring on the pilot bit “included” makes simple work of removing the drilled knockout. The packaging has suggested drill speeds for the type of materials that are being drilled. Great product with great features.

The Milwaukee 1 3/4" Carbide Hole Cutter is a high quality cutting tool. The stainless steel carbide teeth prevented any tear out on my cuts. The cutter does have a stop shoulder design to prevent over drilling and keeps the cutting depth at 3/16". The teeth are extremely sharp, and make fast, clean cuts. My favorite part of this hole cutter is the spring loaded pilot bit. It helps to make fast cuts, and no need to worry about a stuck plug. The 3 flat shank should be used in drill drivers. This is another superior product from Milwaukee. It is so well made I have no doubt it will last a long time.

This is hole saw full of cool features. First of all it is sharp and beefy. That's very important and it fills the bill. But it has several features that set it apart from other hole saw. Fist of all the drill bit shaft is notched so it won't spill in your drill. that can be very frustrating, especially on hard materials. Next the drill bit has a stepped tip so you start with a small hole and then enlarge it for the entire bit/ this makes it much easier for me to precisely locate the center of the hole. Lastly it has a nifty spring on the bit to help eject or remove the "coupon" you just created in the hole. I really like this bit and the features.
