I don’t see why you couldn’t use a full size drill, I have both but used my smaller drill, my smaller drill has the same amount of power as my larger one, I reduced the power setting on my drill so I wouldn’t over tighten the screws then checked them by hand with a offset Allen wrench.

What is the metal thing for?

The metal thing is for holding adapter in place, otherwise it will twist out of your hand.

This offset drive was the perfect fix for me. Had to replace a drain valve on my diesel fuel bowl for my Ford truck. There was not enough room for my hands without removing the fuel filter bow itself.

Best little tool ever
Excellent for tight to reach furniture assembly projects, shaved about two hours from a project I did today. Last week I assembled almost the same piece, I immediately notice the difference in the time it took when I used this tool.

Not as functional as hoped
I got this with high hopes and sometimes it seems like it will do the job; however in the end this adapter is frustrating and tough to use. I do a lot of DYI (plumbing, drywall, electrical, decks, smart home, framing, etc) and often get asked to help friends who end up with the wrong contractor. It’s just not that easy to use this adapter. Need to replace it with something more friendly as this one just creates issues when the screws “cam out” almost every time. Milwaukee can do better. I had such high hopes ...

This adapter works ok but there are better options out there. I like the size and how easily you can change heads. I do not like that the grip can slide off or rotate from where you need it and fall off. The yellow guys make a version of this that is better and I use over this one every time. Because the handle rotates it does give you a variety of options for where you can hold it but when it slides down the shaft its quite frustrating. If the grip would stay, I think this would be easier to hold onto than the competitors but I couldn't find a way
