No. Not for a 3/8 diameter without enlarging the socket. It will work for a 23/64 diameter without modifications.

Take a pair of pliers from the FRONT on the bottom retainer (the tabs will be on the opposite side)of each side and bend up (or down). The tabs will slide through the holes.

Can you connect two or three of these together to get a longer reach?

Yes, you can. I have used more than that connected together. I recommend periodically checking the set screws to ensure they remain tightened as on a couple of rare occasions they became loose over time. Overall, this product worked well for me.

This is advertised as a 3/8" extension. This hex extension does fit a 3/8" chuck. The receiver end is too small to accommodate conventional 7/16" hex hole saw arbors nor self-feed bits.

Well mad tool
This is one of those tools you may not need often, but when you do you really need it. This is the larger 3/8” size, and you will only want to use a 3/8” chuck bit in it. The ¼” bits are the wimpy ones which fit in the quick change chucks. This is well built like all Milwaukee tools, heavy to the point that it just dares you to break it. I like the recessed set screw so it does not damage the wood during a drill. Well made tool that you will pass down to your grandchildren someday.

This is an ok tool, but it would be better if it had 2 set screws, whereas to center the drill bit or hole saw, or to add another extension for reach: The one set screw makes for a lot of wobble while using this extension. It does not spin true.
