Hi, Robert. The head is metal (steel), but the handle is fiberglass, making it lighter and more shock-resistant than a full-metal hammer.
Is this a good sledge hammer to break cast iron pipe? I use a 28oz hammer to break 4”cast iron pipe, but I seen guys use small sledge hammer to break pipe, so is this worth a purchase, or a waste of money?

There is no effort to hide the China or Taiwan connections. On the rear of the product tag, just to right of UPC code is this statement "Engineered by Milwaukee Tool Made in Taiwan with further Processing in China"
And Home Depot does sell Estwing hammers, just look at all of the one-piece head and handle hammers on the wall
