Questions & Answers

Can this product be used on wood?

Just trying to cut a 6" hole in 1/2" particle board and not break the bank.
Asked by: xcvx
it won't go as fast as other 'wood' bits but it will cut through just about anything. if you don't' need to make dozens of holes cut away.

What about metal? Can this product can be used on metal?

Asked by: Audioman
sheet metal no problem; thick metal, other methods will work better. I would use this to make a small dent and use something else to finish the cut (hackzall for example).

I used to work at HD. They taught us to sell the "whole job". If you buy paint, ask if they need brushes. Why isn't there a link to the proper Arbor?

Asked by: Safe Ride Sue
there is a link if you scroll down to the related items, it has the best arbor "quick release". it's wobbly but it is no-tool release and fantastic.

A 4 inch hole saw is a hole saw that makes a 4 inch hole. I would have thought that Home Depot with its vast knowledge of tools would know that. This is a 4 3/8 inch hole saw. It is a hole saw that makes the appropriate size hole for a nominal 4 inch recessed light. Home Depot, in the future please do not list this as a 4 inch hole saw. List it as a "4 3/8 inch hole saw for nominal 4 inch recessed fixtures". In the mean time, I will have to scramble to find the right tool for the job tomorrow for which I ordered this.

Cut through 3/4" of pine (tongue and groove) and 5/8" of drywall. Had to knock the cut out of pine out of the hole saw in order to keep drilling into the drywall. Cut through both materials well.
