Q:I have to drill out a set screw in a gas block on my rifle. I broke off a Fit It Stick bit in the set screw. Start with 3/32?, then 7/64? and finally 1/8? if necessary. Hopefully, I can dislodge the remaining material without damaging the threads.

Answer This Question

A:  Hello friend, for this application, First I would try to use a mechanics pick for the broken fit stick. Then try a lisle, etc. extractor. If that doesn't work you can also use a left handed drill bit which often spins the damaged fastener out.

        Answer This Question

A:  Depends on how hard the bolt is. I drilled out a grade 5 bolt with a cobalt bit. These bits are hard enough to drill most materials.

Defective, second bit purchased from Homedepot
It seems that every Milwaukee bit I have purchased from Home Depot is defective. I purchased the 5/16 metal bit about two months ago and finally found the time to drill holes in 14 gauge sheet metal and all I could get done were 8 holes, that's even using the bit with tap magic. Absolutely terrible.

Awesome strong bit to do a crank pin.
I needed a very strong bit to drill a Hellcat engine driveshaft and a balancer/pulley. With a special tool to keep the drill from moving away and enough oil to lubricate and keep temps cool, I was able to drill it within minutes

                  Great bits
These Milwaukee impact bits are my second favorite bits after the Milwaukee cobalt bits. I keep at least two full sets of each at all times. They’ll chew through 1/2” steel all day long. The cobalts cut faster, but I like the quick connect feature for the impact on these.
