Q:Is the cutter on these strippers able to cut through 12/2 mc without damage to the strippers?

    Answer This Question

A:  No only wire not the mc jacket

    by|Feb 20, 2023

A:  No You'll need to cut through the metal clad with a saw or rotary cutter. These strippers will then work on the wires inside the metal clad.

Q:Are the bolt cutting holes threaded, at least on one side? I'd prefer it on the tool, otherwise I put on a nut (if I can) to correct any thread issues after cutting.

Excellent product for a great price
These are the 7 in 1 model #48-22-3078 there great for everything i have used them for so far my only complaint is they wont crimp insulated connectors like there lineman pliers will which is disappointing because it would be so handy to have all in one tool now if you don't care for crimpers at all you might prefer the 6in1 there a little more compact and cheaper but i prefer the wider jaws at the tip on these for making up electrical joints the handles are very comfortable there very sharp cut like butter some say the knipex stay sharper longer but i can buy 3 pair of these before i have paid for a set of knipex and i have not had any trouble with them loosing there edge at all so far these have been great they do excellent at everything they are suppose to do at a great price if your thinking about getting them just do it i have regretted a-lot of wire strippers i have bought in the past but i don’t regret these for even a second

                      versatile, easy to use
this automatic wire stripper is sure to make anyone very happy with its ease of use and versatility. regarding its construction it is a sold piece of equipment, seemingly well built with high quality materials. the wire cutter in the middle is phenomenal, cutting down the need for carrying side cutters for certain situations. the stripper works from 10 to 20 gauge, which should cover almost all household wiring needs. it’s very simple to use and works like a charm. i really love how the rubber grips on the handle make it so easy to work with in one hand

                      Production Wire Stripper
This is a well built tool from Milwaukee. It is designed to strip solid wires from 8-20 gauge and stranded from 10-22 gauge. It will strip up to 1 inch of insulation very quickly with a single press of the levers. It also has a built in wire cutter (for copper wire only). If you need to do lots of junction boxes, larger panels, or multiple panels in a day, than this tool is likely to save you time. Good to Know: 1. The “automatic” function has some ability to align the cutting edge to the wire (you must choose the right size cutting hole) and will automatically strip the insulation in a single press of the levers. It will not automatically size the wire and strip it as well. While some other tools do offer that function and I own to different types, I have found both of them to be inconsistent. This tool is very consistent for what it does. 2. For my experience level, I am more comfortable with scissor type wire cutters or lineman’s pliers for cutting wire. 3. Depending on your hand size, this tool might feel very comfortable or the handles might feel a bit small. I wear XL gloves and for me larger handles would be better. Conclusion: This tool is probably best suited to experienced electricians who need to do a lot of repetitive wire stripping in a day. It is well made and I expect it will last a long time when reasonably handled and cared for.

Slightly longer than the 6 in 1's. The main difference I found is that they are shaped more like linesman pliers with a wide flat end rather than the more narrow jaws of the 6 in 1. Makes twisting wires a bit easier to hold onto.

Very Comfortable Easy to Use for Stripping Wires
Very Comfortable Easy to Use for Stripping Wires. This allows you to strip one wire quickly and smoothly with the amount of stripping area you want up to 1 inch. It handles solid wire from 8-20 AWG or stranded 10-22 AWG without a problem. Additionally it has a wire cutter built into the middle of the handle for quick cutting. It has a nice weight to it and is listed as for cutting copper only.

                      I would buy these again.
I’ve been using the 6 in 1 electrical pliers for five weeks now and so far I haven’t had any issues. Built very rugged and haven’t noticed any dulling on the stripper after stripping over 2,000 wires, (90% 18ga), for panel building. I have noticed mild deformation of the cutting edge shown in the red circle of the picture after cutting just a dozen or so larger 10ga wires but nothing that prevents me from using them. This is a problem that may be easily solved by not making the cutting edge too sharp and also making sure the material has the proper hardness. I’ve noticed that some larger copper wires of 12ga or 10ga solid have a greater hardness than say, 16ga or 14ga stranded. With that said, I still have these a 4 star rating for their overall ruggedness because I’ve purchased lower cost brands and had them wear out after stripping just 1,000 wires.

                        Soft Metal
I've owned mine for more than a year of DIY remodeling. Not a heavy user. I only cut copper with any strippers I own never nails or ferrous materials. Through basic wiring tasks, the cutters have become marred. I'm not sure that HD reviews are representative of the product as Milwaukee's site doesn't have the same glowing and overwhelmingly positive reviews of them. They're rate 3.2 out of 5 stars. Most reviewers on their site mirror my experience with these pliers.
