Black Oxide Step Drill Bit Set (10-Piece)

I needed to make 5/8” hole on 2” square tubing with 1/8” wall. Instead of buying an individual bit dir $20, i thiught thr stepping bit would add a variety of options for certain tasks. I was initially apprehensive about this bits ability to cut well using a hand drill. Thiugh i have only made 10 holes so far, i am extremely impressed with the speed, quality, and control of the cut. Highly recommend for 1/8” material and thinner.

Impressive performance with older cordless drill. Regardless of step drill size aggressive cutting in plastics and sheet metal was accomplished quickly with 14 volt drill. Used as designed drills were excellent. Were able to make acceptable holes in wood for unexpected needs. Quickly became part of tools brought to most DIY tasks. Often performing well in odd ways better than regular drills making them very useful. The #4 step drill seemed to be the most used. Overall the six bit set in its compact case proved to be great to have for the intended use as well a variety of hole enlarging and shaping tasks that come up on many tasks. Only negative issue experienced after weeks of use is pinching fingers on back of case when closing. Case has mount for accessories. A well designed feature for professionals this Milwaukee set was designed for. Great product that does all it claims to do with ease. Not one drill showed any sign of wear despite the use and abuse given. Highly recommend.

If you don't yet have a set of step bits, this is a really solid kit. I've always found step drills to be the ideal way to create holes (or expand holes) in sheet metal. I got to the point where having one or two in my tool set wasn't quite enough so this fits the bill perfectly. They're sharp, give a ton of flexibility in terms of hole size. Also personally I feel like Milwaukee always nails it with the carry case. I know it's simple, but it makes all the difference in the world to keep things organized. Just be aware these holes are not going to be precision, the nature of the bit and your steady hand will likely make less that perfect hole. Just fine if you're making way for conduit fittings or enlarging punch outs, but not for fine woodworking. If you're looking to add more to your collection or this is your first set, you can't go wrong here.

I have been using the Milwaukee step bits for a while now. They are well made and sturdy step drill bits. I have been using the 1/2 and 3/4 size to build brackets that have been welded together, during welding some of the steel becomes a bit hard and with a little cutting fluid these bits go right through the 1/8th inch materiel like butter. I must have over 200 holes each with the same bit with no issues at all. Still very sharp and doing its job. No complaints from me at all. Love the storage case too!

Excellent set of bits! These do exactly what they are advertised to do and they do it very well. The point on the end keeps your bit where you want it without the need to pre-drill a pilot hole or even center punch where you want it. The bit cuts very fast with the double blade and have seemed to hold up well over my testing. The markings on the bits are easy to read and visible when drilling due to the silver marks on the bits, if you know the mark you have to go to ahead of time you will know when to stop drilling! The case is rugged and easy to use. Overall its a great set of bits that will cover all your step bit needs!

the best step bits i have used. highly visible markings make it easy to see and use without checking, time saver in my opinion. my use is mainly in plastics and aluminum for installation of switches and lamps. and they so far have shown very little wear. the bits and the case is just what you expect from a Milwaukee tool/accessory. no doubt i will purchase more in the future and be recommending them as well.

At the time I received this set of step drill bits, I did not have a specific project in mind, just knew that it was something I have needed from time to time. The next day I had to install a dusk-to-dawn light. Working from scaffolding and ladders and drilling various size holes in both steel and wood, two of these bits were put to work. I was almost amazed at the performance. The package states 2X faster. This is an understatement. It also states they will last 4X longer. If they do hold up much longer than ordinary, then the price will certainly be worth it.

Another hit by one of the industry leaders.Milwaukee tools. The three (3) step bit set is made in America and will drill or enlarge any hole from 1/8" all the way to 7/8". The set comes with three separate step bits. The number one is sized for 1/8" to 1/2". The number two is sized from 3/16" to 1/2" and the number three is sized from 3/16" to 7/8". All with convenient markings so your sure what size hole you have and where to stop. The kit comes with a carrying case so you do not loose any step bits in the bottom of you tool bag. The case also has a 1/4" threaded mount for add and accessory. I use step bits everyday and Milwaukee is the best hands down. Highly recommended.

To me, Milwaukee means quality. I frequently drill in medium to light metal as well as wood and needed a set of step drill bits and this set is nice. The increments on each bit is clearly marked, the storage case is nice and the three bits provide a variety of sizes. I prefer the 3-flat secure grip shank which reduces slippage in my drill press. I like these.
