Q:Can this be used to make an existing hole larger?

Answer This Question

A:  Yes. Just make sure to line everything up as good as you can. High speed and starting slow will be the easiest way without causing damage.

A:  Try this: Find scrap 2x6 board; drill hole the desired size in 2x6. Center the hole in 2x6 over the smaller door hole; clamp with two C-clamps. Drill larger hole in door. The Milwaukee is a great tool for new doors, but for enlarging the bit might wander.

A:  you could also try screwing a thin 1/4" piece of wood over the area, then drill the hole thru the plywood and the door, using the jig on top of both, for the larger hole. this will allow the bit to first cut a fresh hole, and help it stay aligned.

I had to add a dead bolt lock to my garage because my 2 year old found out how to open all of the doors in the house. This jig made it very simple to set up and drill exactly where the holes need to go for any type of door. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone needing to add hardware to any door.

Skip. Hole saw cannot be removed from arbor.
Hole saw and arbor attach only with threads - not the two pin system that better hole saws use. When cutting, your drill tightens the threads, and makes it impossible to separate the saw and arbor. And you can’t just leave them permanently attached- for every door you prep, you must switch between two different sizes of hole saw.

Good Jig but questionable saw quality
The jig was valuable enough to buy the set but dissapointed to find that my Hole Dozer was a bit oval instead of round. Otherwise does the job but annoying since I had higher expectations from Milwaukee. Picture is from one use on wood but the shape was basically the same before and after.

                      wonderful idea
The idea is great but could use a clamp screw on top amd bottom, the jig wanted to rotate. Also the slider for where the hole is side to side doesnt lock in firm enough. All in all this is great for a new door that has no holes but when trying to put larger hole in old door it still lets the hole saw jump around too much.

NOT non-slip, NOT good on metal
NOT non-slip, NOT good on metal. Very disappointed - I thought this would be perfect for my needs, enlarging a 1.5" old-school deadbolt hole into a new 2 1/8" deadbolt hole for a new electric deadbolt. No such luck.....It slipped, even with an extra 2 clamps on it, and didn't do much more than grind up an edge of the metal sheath of the door into ragged strips that caused more slippage

Damaged door, had to hire locksmith w/ better tool
MISINFORMATION! Milwaukee’s product description states, “This versatile kit works with wood and metal interior and exterior doors...” That was not true for me. My exterior door has a wood core and thin metal exterior. This product couldn’t securely contain my brand new Milwaukee drill and Milwaukee hole dozer bit. The hole dozer slid around and created a larger hole in my exterior door which will never look the same (a picture is attached). I ended up spending $200 on an urgent visit from the locksmith to cut the correct hole size for my door lock. The locksmith used the Ryobi equivalent of this product (model # A99DLK4) which comes with a more secure clamp system and is almost 50% cheaper at Home Depot!!! Milwaukee I’m very disappointed, especially as a person who recently spent hundreds on your products, and would like to stay around as a lifelong customer. Milwaukee, I would appreciate a response and compensation because of the damage and extra expenses incurred.

Have an old, smaller door handle with a bore hole too small? This is how you address that problem.
Had to re-bore 7 doors to receive new replacement handles. Worked like a charm. I used extra clamps just to be extra certain the jig didn't move. Probably not necessary, but had to be careful because it was a one shot deal.

                            The jig works fine
The jig works fine. The adapter screw is a pain. Once you drill the knob hole the drill tends to kick(metal door) and tighten the adapter screw beyond hand loosening.

This product is simply amazing! I had no prior experience before using this tool and it turned out perfect! It was easy, quick, and I had great results! The only reason I am not giving it 5 stars is that one of the bits became stripped after using it on 2 doors, but that may have been user error... I am not sure. All in all, this was well worth my money and helped build my confidence in abilities to DIY!
