What is the grade of steel?

Asked by Coxt June 1, 2020

There is no mention of the grade. Only ‘stainless’ what I can tell you is that I’ve had mine for three months or so and routinely use it to cut up in boxes and haven’t thought about sharpening it yet. The blade is also coded with an anti-stick material which helps greatly. For $15 it’s a pretty good deal.

Whats the best sharpening angle to use?

Here is a photo of the blade. As you can see the angle is pretty steep. Hope this helps.

Good weight and size to it can be easily stored in pocket without any discomfort. The Fastback feature is amazing, can quickly be opened with a swift flick of the wrist and the blade won’t get stuck for easy one-hand closing. Overall great high quality knife, Milwaukee has a lifetime customer with me.

This is a great knife to have clipped to the side of your pocket all the time. As you can see from the attached photos it is a quality built knife with a metal clip to hold it securely in place and anti-stick material on the blade (Teflon?) Simply push the button on the side and flip the blade open. The quality blade retains its edge for a long time. I routinely use mine to cut open boxes, rope, string, and I haven’t even thought about sharpening it yet. Also, The blade locks open to ensure safety. It has a hole for tying a tether but I find the belt clip is more than enough for me. I carry it with me all the time and it is a fantastic deal for $15.

I really enjoy the Milwaukee FASTBACK! You must use the button to open the blade. This makes sure you want to open the blade, and the blade stays open until you use the thumb lock to close the blade. The blade is very sharp straight from the packaging. Excellent product.

(What's this)
Milwaukee Fastback Camo Folding Knife. This knife is a pretty handy knife for a lower budget cutting tool. When I opened it for the first time I was impressed with how sharp it was, ( so be careful when handling it) . the knife seems solid and sturdy and the double locking mechanism is positive and reliable. It will not fold up on you when you are using it. I can get it to flick open one handed if I do it just right but the action is stiff and it will take some practice. I would rather have it open easier and hope that in time it will loosen up some. It requires a quite vigorous snap of the wrist to get the blade to fold out. The other issue with this knife which I have been carrying for about a month is that it did not stay sharp. I used it to open boxes and cut rope and whittle a little and in my opinion the steel of the blade is fairly soft. But it is a good enough hacking around tool. There is a good solid clip on the handle to keep this tool safely in your pocket and easy to get hold of.

This is a good pocket knife from the people at Milwaukee. Push the button and flip out the blade which then locks into place and you then have to slid the bar on the bottom to close the blade. The issue I have is this knife is made for a right handed person. You must hold the button down with your right thumb and flip it open with your right hand. Being left handed this knife is hard to flip open with my right hand/wrist. Now granted a great majority of you are right handed and this would be a great pocket knife. But as a left hander I prefer a pocket knife that can easily be opened with either hand.

(What's this)
Excellent ‘do it all’ knife for any DIY. My other knife was smaller and didn’t hold an edge for very long. This Milwaukee knife is a real game changer. It has a stainless steel blade that’s almost 3” long and stays sharp! Whether cutting rope, nylon, plastic, or using to strip wire, it’s always up to the job. It also has an excellent, tight, large belt clip that will really keep it tight on your belt. It even has a slot in the rear of the handle if you want to install a lanyard. The handle is also ‘notched’ for a perfect grip with no slipping. Best part is the ‘ Press and Flip’ feature, which is a real time saver when you have your knife in one hand and your ‘project’ in your other hand. Simply depress the side button on the handle and flip it forward and the blade flips out and locks in place. Better yet, When closing the blade, it locks in place for safety. Definitely keeping this on my belt all the time now.

Very nice folding knife from Milwaukee. Extra safe with a button to open it and a safety bar to keep it open. Blade is made of tough material and holds an edge for a long time. I use it to cut tough twine on hay bales and it is still as sharp as new. Belt clip is an added feature that is nice. Seems to stay on your belt better than another major brand I That I lost.

(What's this)
I have carried some form of a knife or pocket knife for most of my life. It seems like I’m always needing one for one reason or another. Once you are used to carrying one you feel kind of naked when you don’t have it. It always seems like the days I need one the most are the days I forget it at home. This new Milwaukee FASTBACK Camo Folding Knife is perfect for carrying in your pocket, on your hip, in a tool bag or in a purse. The blade is the perfect size for breaking down boxes, cutting rope or the thousand other uses you need a good knife for. The knife feels very comfortable and secure in your hand and is contoured in all the right spots for absolute comfort and control. The knife opens easily with one hand with its press and flip mechanism and closes easily with the use of two hands. The stainless-steel blade stays very sharp and seems to hold its edge very well. I cut up a lot of cardboard boxes with mine and it hasn’t seemed to have dulled it at all so far. I’m sure over time it will start to dull but since it can be sharpened, I’m not to worried about it. If you are in some form of work that requires a tool belt, they have added a tether ready lanyard hole, so you don’t have to worry about dropping it or losing it. The wire belt clip is very thin and goes in and out of your pocket or on your hip nicely without snagging and doesn’t add a bunch of bulk like some belt clips do. Since this knife carries the Milwaukee name you know you are getting a quality product. It has a 90-day returnable policy along with a limited lifetime warranty. If you are on the lookout for a new knife I would take a look at the whole line of Milwaukee knives and see which one fits your lifestyle the best.
