FASTBACK Folding Utility Knife with General Purpose Blade

Pretty nice little tool, but the blade hits the back of the housing when flicked shut, I can look down inside and see the paint is being scraped off from the blade impacting it. Also, you really have to push the release button all the way down which is annoyingly hard, if not the blade will not open or shut all the way, and quite often the blade bounces back open when flinging shut. This obviously isn’t a very big problem, but I could see in a time-dependant construction site, it would be an annoying and maybe even a time consuming problem.

Another good option for utility knives, there are a lot out there. Notes: -It is a little big to carry around inside your pocket. It really needs to be clipped on the outside of your pocket. -I didn't find the wire stripper very easy to use compared to actual wire strippers. -The gut hook is good for cutting twine but not a lot else due to the width. -Flipping the knife open is comparable to slightly more difficult than operating a traditional utility knife. I was very excited to get this Milwaukee Fastback utility knife because I purchased the original Fastback at least five years ago, maybe longer, and absolutely love it. I've used my old one every day at work in residential and commercial construction environments and it has been the best utility knife I've ever owned. This new version is everything I love about my old knife but slightly updated. It comes with an extremely smooth fast opening/closing blade, a quick change button to quickly change the blade, a gut hook and wire stripper feature, a sturdy metal body and belt clip (better than the original) a smooth integrated lanyard hole for tethering when required, and is designed with a safe and comfortable feeling grip that fits perfectly in my average-sized hand. Also comes in the classic Milwaukee red color for easy identification. Even though my old knife is still as functional as the day I purchased it, I am quite excited to put this new one through its paces. Highly recommended.

The Milwaukee FASTBACK is one of those “by popular demand” alternatives to their already tried and true standard bright red “box cutter”, a tool that without it or this alternative, renders your tool box incomplete if there isn't one or the other of them in there. The FASTBACK incorporates some refinements and for users with specific preferences, and “improvements” if that word even fits for such a perfectly evolved instrument as the traditional Milwaukee Box Cutter, like a much smaller, more pocket friendly profile, and even a metal spring clip on the back so you can carry it like a traditional belt clip pocketknife. Instead of the top or side fingertip slide the box cutter uses to extend the blade, this one has a push button on the side that allows you to fold out the blade holder manually and then safely lock it in place for use. If there was a single concern with the standard Box Cutter, it was the fact that it was possible to accidentally extend that razer sharp blade while reaching into a tight pocket to grab it out. This design also means the knife when folded is only 4 ½ inches long, instead of the 7 inches of pocket or tool box space the Box Cutter needs. It is also just half an inch thick, rather than the full one inch of the Box Cutter. The beefy blade holder when extended has a flat top surface, so you can lay your thump on it to safely exert substantial force down on the blade when cutting tough material. A safe, recessed push-in blade release button is used to change out a dull blade or swap it end for end. Like the Box Cutter, this one also has a handy and safe to use recessed wire insulation and boxing cord cutter that does not require extending the blade to use. This knife is impressive, quite a chunk of metal, and it is very nice looking, with the white "Milwaukee" logo done in script on a red background. The only trade-off, and well worth it for the much easier portability and familiar pocketknife feel of it, is the lack of internal spare blade storage. Milwaukee sells a safe and secure spare blade kit for both the Box Cutter and FASTBACK, they use the same replacement blades, that will sit on a peg board and safely ride in your tool box. I like the Fastback very much.

This is a great tool to keep with you everywhere you go. Super easy to use and open boxes or cut open boxing tape. Super sharp. Handel is easy to hold on to. Easy to change blades. Just a all around good tool for everyday use. Milwaukee brand is and alway is a great tool brand. When you buy a Milwaukee you know you are buying quality and quality parts. This is a great if not the best folding utility knife that I have ever had and used. It folds in half and locks closed and also locks open to prevent injuries and mishandling. It has a nice spot to cut small cords and strings and straps while the knife is in the folded position. It is very comfortable to hold and use. It also has a spring clip on the side to help hold it in a pocket or to your belt. The blade is very well positioned when the knife is unfolded and locked open which gives great leverage and makes it easy to use. I highly recommend this folding utility knife.

This is a utility knife that is different from other ones that I own. First off you don't have to pull the blade open, there is a button on the side that you push in and swing the blade open with one hand. The blade changing is very simple and closing the blade is effortless. There is a blade holder on it so you can use it to hold a measuring tape for measuring. There is a slot in the handle to allow for stripping wire or fishing line cutting. It is made out of a hard material and there is a clip so that you can keep it on your belt or securely in a pocket. Definitely one of the best utility knifes that I own.

Milwaukee FASTBACK Folding Utility Knife Model # 48-22-1501 is a folding Utility Knife with some nice innovative safety features. I like the push button lock release needed to open and close the knife and the guarded push button for the blade replacement. Both of these features require both hands and reduce the user being accidentally cut. The knife has an all metal body with a thick plastic coating. Milwaukee incorporated a coated wire pocket clip that’s pretty stout and a lanyard hole for safe convenient tethering or carry the knife in your pocket. The thick plastic body should not put a hole in your pocket. Milwaukee supports this product with a Limited Lifetime Warranty.

This is a very nice utility knife. Comes with an easy to use pocket clip. The flipping action is very easy. The button release is easy to use, just push with your thumb and flip it even though old habits are to get over I still pull it with my other hand..The plastic body is rugged, will handle being dropped and it also is fairly easy to grip. Very rugged, safety was in mind when it was made and easy to use. This is a must have tool for any handy man. All may old razor tools have been shoved to the back of the my tool cabinet.

Milwaukee FASTBACK Folding Utility Knife review: This is another very useful Milwaukee product. It is safe to open and leave open and easy to fold up - also safely. You use interchangeable blades which makes it great for opening boxes and cardboard enclosures. I remove the clip to attach to your belt or jeans as I find it unnecessary bulk as I usually slip it into my blue jean pockets for safe carry. Very pleased with this product! There ya go!
