Not if they have the 12v system already. This is more compact, lighter and cheaper to trade-off some of the features on the M18. Really, both are really great lights.

Pinch the battery on the ridged tabs as close as you can to where it meets the light and gently wiggle it out. It's a little tight admittedly, but it's not that hard.

Great compact job site light. The fact it’s so easy to setup and use makes me want to use it all the time rather than avoiding normal work lights due to the hassle of getting an extension cord out and cleaning up after. Use this when finishing yard work, while painting or garage work.

A great alternative to the larger, much more expensive, M18 rocket lights. Has very good runtime on the M12 6.0 battery. The AC power option is a great backup, although I have not had to use it. I have found this light to work great while underneath a vehicle that is up on a lift. I have used it on multiple transmission jobs and some trailer wiring repair. The color temperature of the light is great when repairing wiring and I have noticed my eyes don't hurt like they have with "colder" LED lighting. If you are looking for an excellent addition to your M12 collection this light tower is a no-brainer.

Ive had this light for about 6 weeks now and its my favorite rocket light at the moment. Its small compact size makes it easy to carry this light in the truck everyday. The AC plug is a helpful choice when you have access to power. As far as run time this light does alright expect 3-3.5 hours on high for 6.0 battery and my only complaint is I wish it was about a foot taller as its near eye level when fully deployed. I am more careful positioning this light so the light does not aim at my face while I work. Otherwise this is a great great light.

LET THERE BE LIGHT! Milwaukee has definitely added a game changer in this space. The unit itself is light, compact and sturdy. The quality of the craftsmanship is definitely well worth every penny. One thing I noticed right off the get go was how they engineered the LED light unit to be huddled and protected within the unit itself during transport or when not in use. I've never seen this type of unit in this space with that key aspect about it. To erect and disassemble stand is incredibly easy. My son and wife can do it with ease. I really enjoy the handle and how compact the unit is when moving it around. The amount of lumens is plenty for small jobs and added light when you need it. I love the fact that I don't need a chord just for the light That saves time, energy and money! However, if you just happen to run out of juice; you can plug it into any chord should that emergency arise. Milwaukee again has added a game changer to there fine line of products. If your in the market for a light this one will not disappoint.

A truly versatile light! The height is adjustable, the aim is adjustable, the lumen output is adjustable and it's package with a hybrid power source; M12 battery (not included) or 120 volt via extension cord (not included). Milwaukee engineering really worked on this one - to design a light that when folded is under 32 inches, then extend up to 68 inches on a 19 inch footprint - is very impressive. Then they "tricked" it out with things like a built-in carry handle, variable height adjustments in between, aim-able light torch, 2-stage lighting levels (700/1400 lumens) and battery range indicator at the power button when first switched on. Light color range seems to be in the 4000 - 4500 temperature range, no bluish affect I've seen with some high output COB LED work lights. The Milwaukee Rocket works with any size M12 - it works just fine with my 16 Wh and 4.0 AH batteries. The Rocket is perfect for many applications - working in the attic, under the hood of the truck or out on the patio after dark barbecuing. This light gives a good "flood" of light without being blinding. My favorite feature: the hybrid power design and the light weight 7 pounds of weight.

This review is for Milwaukee Tool Product 2132-20, ROCKET M12 dual power tower light. This portable work light is a Milwaukee tool-only product as it does not include a battery and charger. This light is equipped to also operate using 120-volt AC power when connected using a standard two- or three-prong plug on an extension cord. This work light is constructed of tough, impact resistant plastic and anodized aluminum. With a REDLITHIUM M12, 2 AH battery installed, it is relatively light at about 7.8 pounds. Fully folded, it is about 31 inches long and 6 inches wide. This lighting product is equipped with three easy-to-grab handles that are located for good balance for carrying it folded with one hand. Unfolding for use is a snap, not requiring undoing straps or clamps. The LED light at the top of the stand swivels and pivots nicely. It is switchable for light levels of 700 and 1400 lumens. This work light is quite stable with the tripod stand deployed. I put this work light to use for connecting wiring for installation of a portable generator transfer switch at our main power panel that required disruption of all AC power. With a fully charged 2 AH, M12 battery installed and the light level at the 700 lumen setting, I was able to complete the 2-hour project without requiring a battery recharge. With this product at hand, I will no longer need a helper to hold a flashlight for many of my future handyman projects done in otherwise poor lighting conditions. This work light has a limited 5-year warranty. From my perspective, this is an innovative and high-quality addition to my handyman tool collection. I expect to use it often.

Quick Review: Bright Light, to me removing the battery is a hassle so much so that it lost 2 stars mainly due to that, it is very difficult for me to remove, as I had very little clearance to pinch the tabs on the side. If this had the ability to charge the battery this would have been a 4 star product. I give it 3 stars and recommend it because overall the light is bright and light to carry around More In Depth Review: This light lost 2 stars from me because operating it can be a hassle at times. My main issue with it is the battery port, removing the battery is harder than setting up the light itself. I experienced difficulty removing the battery from other M12 products but those experiences were never as frustrating as this one. There is not much clearance to stick my fingers in to remove it, so getting the battery out is always difficult. I always have to shimmy it out and even then if I am lucky I can remove it in about 5 secs, on other occasions I spent about 30seconds fighting with it to release my battery. If this charged the battery while the light was in use, it would be bearable, but the way it is now it is a major flaw to me. Another issue is that collapsing the light, at times can be difficult also. I do not want to push down too hard, for fear of snapping it but I have to exert more pressure than I would like to. Another issue( a small issue) is the battery gauge, It only comes on momentarily. I feel that it should stay on the whole time so you can see how much juice you have without shutting off the light(as it only comes on when the light is turned on) Performance: The light is very bright and very lightweight, I had no problems carrying it. I used this for about a week, one occurrence was at night when I had to grab something in the backyard. This lit up the area I needed it to just fine. Carrying it was no problem as it was so light. How does this compare to the other Rocket Lights? Differences the Handle, the way this one is setup, no matter what side you grab it from, when it is fully collapsed, you can use the legs as handles. - All of the M18 Rocket lights, have 2 sets of clamps on the lights, so you can set it anywhere along the way to it's maximum height. This one has 2 stops along the way , and those are the only 2 places to set the height of the light, 3 if you count it's initial position. - The position of the outlet is one the same side as one of the legs, therefore to plug something in, it is best to do it when the light is fully collapsed, otherwise you can still do it, but you will be fighting with the legs. -The head for the light rotates to about 225degrees. Suggested Improvement: Increase the maximum height, Add One Key functionality Let it operate like the M18 RocketLight with 3 heads, so you can charge the battery Use the same clamp design for the all of the m18 Rocket Lights, so collapsing it is simple, and you can set the height exactly where you want it

This is Milwaukee’s M12 ROCKET work light (tool only). The stand collapses to 30 3/4”, and extends to a nice 5’ 7 1/2” (my measurements). This is a very compact, easy to carry (under 7 lbs.) work light that works with Milwaukee’s M12 batteries and can also be plugged in to a standard 120 volt receptacle (note that a charger is not built-in, so the battery will not charge when the light is plugged in). The tripod is sturdy, but light weight. To extend the legs, just push in the two releases on the collar (see Photo 1) and push down, then lift the center post to lock the legs. To extend the center post, just pull up on the light head. Note that the head only locks in the middle and up positions, so you have three positions for the head—all the way down, middle, and all the way up. You cannot position the head in between where it locks. I noticed while messing around with the light that you need to pull up firmly on each section to actually lock it in place. If not, it can slide down on its own (this happened once to me). The power switch (on-high-low-off) is in the center section that protects the light head (see Photo 2). When you turn the light on, the battery indicator (just above the switch) lets you know the condition of your battery. You can rotate the head vertically 210 degrees, from straight down (the storage position) to just past straight up. It also rotates 270 degrees horizontally. All-in-all, in most cases you shouldn’t have to move the whole tripod to adjust the light. With the switch in the high mode, the light puts out 1,400 lumens, in low it’s 700 lumens. I could not find any spec for the color temperature of the light, so I tried comparing it to some known light sources in my home. My best guess is that it’s 4000K. As it turned out, I had two real jobs that needed lighting just as I received the rocket light. Photo 3 shows the light in a small utility closet so repairs can be done to a water valve. Photo 4 shows lighting up a ceiling so a new fan/light can be installed. In both cases, the light was perfect for the application. Finally, Photo 5 was taken from my back door to my garage at night (there were no other lights—those small solar lights don’t count). The camera is right above the light head. To me that’s some impressive light. And by the way, the LED comes with a lifetime warranty, on the rest of the light there’s a 5 year warranty.

This new Milwaukee m12 Rocket light is out of this world awesome. I have had many jobsite lights, but never have I had one that was so light, portable, bright and heavy duty all in one. The light is built way better than anything I have used before. The legs and the rest of the casing is mad from heavy duty plastic that will take a beating. What's really smart though is that the light actually folds down into the head to protect it from damage when not in use (brilliant!) The mast can be raised and lowered simply by lifting up or pushing down on it. It holds itself up without needing clamps or pins to keep it in place. Everything is also very smooth to operate, and can be completely set up and ready to use in less than five seconds. Once it's set up, it stands firm and would fall over because of the wat the legs are designed. Now what's really awesome about this light is that it runs on a battery or can be plugged into an electrical cord. This makes it extremely portable and can be used anywhere you need lighting. I use the 3.0 m12 as it will give you 4 hours of runtime on high, and 10 hours on low. Speaking of light, I love that the 12 LED lights give off a soft, warm light unlike others out there that have a harsh bright unnatural light. It's so powerful, I am able to light up a large 2 car garage and work without issue. It's crazy how much light this actually gives off. Not to mention it can swivel and rotate to keep the light focused in the area you need it most. As for storage and transportation. This folds up so small that you could toss it in you back seat, storage and/or truck box and still have room for tons of other tools and gear. Once the legs are folded in, they actually create handles for you to carry it around with. Just toss it in a corner when finished and you won't even know it there. Everything about this light is well thought out, and is a perfect addition to any work area that needs a bit more lighting. You can even use the second?low) setting if you just need a it more shine to the area.100% reccomend this!
