No
No, I wouldn't buy it for sand in carpet.
i’m not sure about that, I used on broken glass and warm ashes from my grill and the filter looks ok still
No. You charge the battery and then pop the battery into the tool.
Fine drywall dust is a problem for any vacuum filter. The larger the filter surface area, the longer it will take to plug it up. Plan on replacing filter often, or knock the dust out of it often. This vacuum has a small filter, so it will probably plug up quickly with drywall dust. I would suggest some type of vacuum with a bag that will contain most of the dust as a "pre-filter" to the exhaust filter. This is how most home vacuums work and it keeps the filter from clogging up so fast.
I've had my M12 compact vacuum for about a year and am still using the original filter. However, you can purchase replacement filters here: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Milwaukee-3-in-Replacement-Filters-2-Pack-49-90-1950/206140085

No. Some of what you vacuum up will blow out of the side into the air you breath. Some will get stuck in the motor and blower fins. Some will end up in the canister. You'll destroy your vacuum, inhale some saw dust, and get your clothes all dusty. They should make a screen attachment so you can use it without filter. My Ryobi hand vac has one. It doesnt filter the exhaust air, but it allows me to pick up some larger stuff without having to drag out the big vac i.e. when my kid spills a bowl of popcorn on the rug.
