Q:Whats rhe difference between this one and the 3.0 compact one ?
by|Mar 8, 2021
1 Answer
Answer This Question

A:  This one has a longer run time and doesn't start to lose power as quickly. It's good to own both as I do (several ). Small version for light jobs or tight places and the big guy for the tougher jobs. Love the quality of the tools AND batteries. I own the driver/ drill driver and impact driver. * Caution: Never try and recharge a battery until you're sure it has cooled down.

Q:What is the difference between your 3.0ah battery and the extended capacity battery 3.0ah? Is it ...

Answer This Question

A:  The difference is you do get a bit more power but you also get an extended run time. Plus the bigger battery does balance the drill a little nicer in your hand. I have 3 and it's nice to have the longer run time . It did save me some time when I was screwing down 3/4" treated lumber for my 8x16 shed floor and knocking in 3 1/2" treated screws from my rim joists into my 2x6 floor framing joists. Would highly reco. you buy the two pack at H/D around the holidays where you often see two for one promotions.

A:  Advertisement for the larger M12 series batteries does state that it is compatible with all M12 series tools. I'd give them a call to verify this.

Small but mighty batteries these lightweight batteries pack plenty of power. I am impressed how quickly they recharge and once charged hold the charge until you need it. I have about the entire line of heated clothing by Milwaukee and these batteries have kept me warm throughout the last couple winters during cold weather when I had to be out of doors facing the elements. I also have numerous hand tools that are powered by these batteries and I love each and every one of them and have given up all my corded tools versus these cordless power tools which I simple love so much. Milwaukee Redlithium extended-capacity and 1.5 Ah batteries are the best on the market. So glad I was able to ty one and then quickly had to have more. I am a satisfied customer and proud to say that Milwaukee is my favorite brand and most reliable tools in my workshop. I also like that these batteries can be charged on my Solar power off grid setup in my workshop. These multiple packages also save the consumer a lot of money versus buying each of the batteries and charger separately. Great products, outstanding performance, and great savings. I strongly recommend this product. Two thumbs up indeed!!

This review is for the Milwaukee M12 starter kit, model # 48-59-2402SP. The kit includes 1 M12 3 a/h battery, 1 M12 1.5 a/h battery, and a charger. The charger is dedicated to the M12 series of batteries and will not charge M18 cells. Most of my tools use M18 batteries, but I have a couple of Milwaukee M12 ratchets and an M12 impact wrench. The M12 design makes for a lighter package and is more maneuverable than the M18 counterparts. The 3 a/h battery has a “stand” built into the base of the battery (see photo below). While it offers a longer run time than the 1.5 a/h battery (which is cylindrical in design), the 1.5 is smaller and can allow the tool to get into tighter spaces. I’m homeowner / DIY’er, although many years ago I worked as a pro auto mechanic; I’d have loved to have the M12 tools (and batteries) back in the day. I still do a fair amount of work on my own vehicles and the M12 batteries pretty much get me through any project; longer ‘modification’ projects that span several days require charging and swapping out batteries, but a “1 day” project is pretty much a 1 battery deal for me. YMMV. Not having to have the garage compressor fired up is a pleasure. I think that Milwaukee has done a nice job on this line of M12 batteries. HTH Regards, Jim

Just a great starter kit if you are getting into the Milwaukee 12 volt line. The kit comes with 2 batteries, a standard charger and a nice work bag. You get a 3.0 XC Red Lithium battery and a 1.5 CP Red Lithium battery. I feel like the 3.0 is the workhorse of the Milwaukee 12 volt line and by that I mean it is probably the most versatile of the Red Lithium lineup for 12 volt tools. The 3.0 provides enough power and run time that you will need to get most jobs done. I use this one a lot and love the run time you get. The 1.5 is also super nice to because of the compact nature of it and light weight. I would recommend this for light drilling or fastening or using when over head and you don't want the extra weight of the XC. It is also great for the rotary tool or the stapler. Both batteries are great as part of the starter kit because they offer completely different perspectives when using them. The bag provided is a nice throw in by Milwaukee. It is a wide mouth bag that could easily hold your drills or other tools in that size. The bag is good quality construction. I will say that it is only the one pouch/pocket with this bag so don't think this is a great bag for multiple tools but I see this more as a throw in so not something to be upset about. The charger provided is Milwaukee's standard M12/M18 charger. It is not a rapid charger but also the batteries sold in this kit really don't require the rapid charger. The charge time with this charger for the 3.0 and 1.5 is not that bad. Overall I think this is a great starter kit from Milwaukee. You get 2 different form factor batteries from Milwaukee plus the added bonuses of a charger and tool bag. Definitely would recommend this to anyone getting into the Milwaukee 12 volt lineup and looking to acquire some more batteries.
