This is a great tool for so many projects
Sup the Pipeline Inspection System was straightforward. The "Operators Manual" is 70 pages long, and provides clear and detailed setup, operating and usage instructions. The M18 2974-22 doesn't include the "Wireless Monitor (display)", however you can easily use your iPhone, iPad, Android phone or Android Tablet as a monitor/display. Simply download the "Milwaukee Pipeline Inspection" app, install it on your phone or tablet, and connect to the M18 500 GB Control Hub over WiFi. The "Pipeline Inspection" app functions almost identically to the "Milwaukee Wireless Monitor" and provides a reasonable alternative. The Milwaukee Pipeline Inspection System incorporates a modular design. The heart of the system is the 500 GB Control Hub. You can swap in/out 2 different drum reels - a 120 foot reel, and a 200 foot reel. The shorter 120 foot reel with a 25mm camera best handles 2 to 6 inch pipes, and the 200 foot reel with a 34mm camera handles larger 3 to 10 inch pipes. You can swap reels while the control is running and maintain the connection to the wireless monitor. You can also hot-swap the batteries without having to shut down the system and potentially lose your recording in progress. The system employs a digital, self-leveling camera that supports 1080P HD video, and hi-resolution images, and is protected by a rugged spring assembly. Two camera skids, a smaller 3" skid for smaller diameter pipes, and a 4" skid for larger diameter pipes, can be used to help keep the camera centered in the pipe as you push the cable down the pipe. For pipe location and tracing, a sonde transmitter is built into the camera head (512Hz, 640Hz, and 33KHz), and a line tracing transmitter is also built in (33KHz and 83KHz). To use the Sonde and Line Tracing function, you would need the separate "Milwaukee M12 Pipeline Locator". The Sonde and Line Tracing transmitters support standard functionality and should be compatible with other brand locators in addition to the "Milwaukee Pipeline Locator". I don't have a locator and was not able to test the locator and line tracing capability. I tested the Pipeline Inspection system on a gutter drain. The drain pipe is 4" PVC and about 100 foot long. The images below were captured at various distances along the pipe with a final image at the pipe exit about 100 foot at the far end. Image clarity is excellent, and the rugged camera and cable was not difficult to push through the pipe or pull back. As you can see, there is a bit of sediment and sand along the bottom of the pipe, and some residual standing water from a recent rainfall, but the pipe is clear and no visible breaks or damage were found. The 5 AH batteries provide plenty of power and should operate for ~ 6 - 8 hours before a charge is necessary. The system is easy to use, and provides many useful features and functions to assist in the pipeline inspection process. I give the overall system 5 stars for rugged construction, solid engineering, modular design, and excellent quality overall.

This is a must have if you want to know what's down there.
Now plumbing problems can be a big problem, but when you don't know where, and can't just dig up the entire line. This is how you find it. Where the line actually goes, what's causing the issue. Is it a Did or No Dig kind of problem. In some issues a power washer or auger can clear it, or just make it worse. The only way to know is to see for yourself, and this is the next best way when you can't be in the pipe yourself. Big plus here, not just for pipes, little tricky but you can use this to get a look in crawlspaces or between walls just to see if there is something there or if there is a reason not to look there. Well pipes too, not just sewer, but find out what is the issue with the well. The unit itself has an interchangeable control hub, built in hard drive and can be used with a phone or the special tablet. With tracking, tracing, and labels or audio commentary you'll be sure to get all the details recorded for others to see. It is heavy, but its durable. On wheels and easy to move. Next best thing to being there. Have a feeling I'll be using this to lend a hand with issues for relatives, friends and a few neighbors who believe "The Truth is Down There"...

I obtained this M18 18-Volt Lithium-Ion Cordless 200 foot Pipeline Inspection System Image Reel Kit with Batteries and Charger because with new housing construction the wait time for a plumber can be two to three months!!! Plumbers are not available. Our house was constructed in 1958 and has plumbing issues that show up about once a year. This is a major investment, so friends and neighbors are on my list to lend this device to help them. One line we snake once a year is two and a half inch. It works great for checking the main drain out to the city sewer. The instruction manual is sixty-eight pages of nice direction for use and well illustrated. This tool and the snake we bought we are in “business” to help out where needed. I am retired and work for free. My plumbing experience was earned the hard way = I married a plumber’s daughter! The included camera head is 34mm or slightly less than 1 3/8”. The backpack set up is only available on the 120 foot inspection system; the 200 foot set up is too heavy. There is plenty of cable when the unit is sitting on the ground and checking roof vents. The 500 foot Wi-Fi range is more than plenty for any situation I have encountered or am anticipating. If you have never used this type of inspection system plan on several hours to get acquainted. It is a doozy! Nice bonus features of tracking and/or locking the equipment so if it walks off……. But at this price point I feel the monitor/tablet could have been included. I was constrained to only six photos for this review, so there are many features I could not display here.

Pleased so far even though I have 2 broken riser
I love how user-friendly this unit is I came from the Ridgid seesnake it took a lot for me to convert over to Milwaukee I'm pleased overall with it accept the riser balls the screw that has a washer in the center of it gets stuck in between the two pieces of plastic as you're trying to undo it you have to take a flat blade screwdriver to pry it apart I broke my small Riser ball and my large risible all within one week of having my camera waiting on a response from my vendor
