Milwaukee M18 18-Volt Lithium-Ion Cordless 3000-Lumen ROCKET LED Stand Work Light & Charger (Tool-Only) is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 77.

I couldn't get the top extension to release and had to work it for over an hour (I was a little concerned about breaking it). Once it was finally done, it threw fairly pool light for $400 dollars. I thought the portability would be worth the price but I ended up stringing a couple of LED' lamps to a generator string and got 10 times the light for 1/4 the price. I can see in certain indoor applications where you couldn't run a cord or generator it would be good. The charger worked well.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Finally, a Hybrid Tower Light! When Milwaukee released their original M18 Stand Light, my only complaint was that it didn't have an option to power it through a 120VAC wall outlet. Well, they certainly addressed that issue with this Rocket light by integrating a 120V input AND an M18 battery charger. This next generation of their tripod light is 50% brighter too, at 3000 lumens on high. The only things they added to that I don't like are the weight the price! One of the most noticeable changes is the light head, which now has 3 separately articulated 4-LED sub-heads. This allows the Rocket light to provide 360° lighting, or even light up the area immediately below the light, which the older stand light could not do. However, if you're just trying to light up one area, you'll end up with an uneven beam pattern, with triangles of differing brightness from where the 3 heads intersect. The older stand light has a much more even beam pattern. I'm glad Milwaukee finally seems to be moving away from the one-button control for their lighting products. There's a separate button for on/off, and + and - buttons for controlling brightness. The light will remember which mode it was in when turned off, and stay in that mode when turned back on. The incorporated charger seems to be the original speed M18 charger, as I timed it at 38 minutes for a 2Ah compact battery. I was a little bit disappointed it wasn't the components from the rapid charger, which can do the same sized battery in 25 minutes. I also discovered the light will charge the battery at the same rate whether or not the LEDs are on. The tripod base and mast mechanism is pretty much identical to the original stand light's design, with the addition of some rubber overmold on the handles. It seems Milwaukee got a little lazy with the redesign though, since the heavier base with included charger really throws off the center of gravity with relation to the main carry handle. The Rocket light weighs in at about 18 pounds, while the older stand light is 14 pounds. Most of that weight was added in the base, which is aft of the CG. The light does NOT balance well, and is difficult to carry by your side. This could have been avoided if the design engineers lengthened or moved the carry handle lower on the frame. What I really wish Milwaukee had come out with was a version of the stand light that could be plugged in, and maybe charge a battery for the price of the original stand light plus the cost of a charger. As is though, the bump up in price for the Rocket light is a little tough to swallow. I think different users are going to have their own preferences between the Rocket light and the Stand light, depending on their use case. I also think cost plays a big factor, since buying two stand lights with two included 5Ah battery kits currently costs less than one Rocket light with a single 9Ah battery. So for less money, you can have 4000 lumens of combined lighting capacity, and an extra 18 Watt hours of battery capacity if you go with the two stand lights. For me, I definitely prefer the less expensive stand light, because I use mine mostly for video lighting and outdoor projects. Although I can see others who work primarily inside where space might be a premium preferring the brighter 360° lighting the Rocket light provides. Either way, I'm glad Milwaukee is adding such variety to their lighting line. They're undoubtedly leading the pack in cordless LED offerings for tool manufacturers, with the Rocket light making a great addition.

In 2018, I bought four of these light stands along with four M18 Red Lithium High Demand 9.0 Ah batteries for my fire company. My thinking was the battery powered LED lights would work in more areas and be easier to transport and set up than the old corded mercury bulbed tripod lights we had. These things are great! We've used them for public relation appearances as well as on emergency scenes. The 3,000 Lumen models with the adjustable heads work in so many different areas, it makes us wish we switched sooner. This morning we had an active commercial building fire and used all four on their brightest setting the entire 4 hours we were on location. The fire investigators borrowed them afterward and returned them after another 2 hours of use, with over a quarter charge left on the batteries. They are now asking when I got them from so they can buy their own.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hail the king of battery operated LED lights! This light is a beast, own it and you’ll be the envy of your crew or neighborhood. This is a heavy duty tool designed to provide lighting flexibility and power to serve a variety of needs. First off, this is designed for pros, well built, many features, performs great. It is not a light weight unit, but portable with built in handles and folding compact down to four foot long. Push a button and the legs expand to a tripod, release two levers and you can raise the head two sections above the base to about 7 feet from the ground. The light bank is composed of three independent LED heads, each of which can be rotated, along with the rotation of the head itself, to offer a variety of ways to configure the direction of the light. The light uses the 18 volt M18 Red Lithium Milwaukee battery which powers a variety of high-end tools. This unit came with a dual 12v/18v charger and the XC 5.0 battery which is rated at 90 watt-hours. The 5.0 battery is the largest capacity Milwaukee makes, and it can power the light for hours. Light intensity can be set for high, medium, or low. Setting light to low still produced a strong light of 900 lumens to fill a room and it will last for up to eight hours on a full charge. High produces 3000 lumens and will last about two hours on a full battery. Having two batteries will give you strong light for a day’s work. A nice feature is that you can plug it in, and it will recharge the battery while operating on high light. I really like this light, as it’s bright and versatile. Everyone who has seen it in use wants to get one – it’s that good. While not inexpensive, you get what you pay for, and if you need a serious LED battery operated light – this one is for you.

I have the original model , what made me get this one too is the fact that it is brighter, hybrid and the color temperature of the light. The color is a little cooler than the original one thus producer better looking subjects(for me) that I photograph. Looking back at it, I could have gotten 2 of the original ones for the price of one of these but I love the fact that this is a hybrid model. With the 9ah battery , on the highest setting this ran for about 4.5hours. For the first 5minutes, I was playing around with the brightness to show it off to others. Still 4hrs is a good time for one, especially since I also have a 5.0ah battery. It is lightweight and easy to carry, used this for a cookout and this is lit up the entire yard. I had it at one end of the yard and I was able to light the entire yard

I was looking for a tower light that had the pivoting head with multi directional use, can use all size batteries, charge them, and use AC power. I used two of these lights for a huge painting project for a friend who bought a house and it worked stellar. Highly recommend

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Must-have for any worksite This is a must-have light source for any worksite. It provides bright, even light to any workspace, and can even charge an M18 battery while in use, if you plug the light in to an AC socket. The base is sturdy and stable, and the light is very easy to set up. The head pans and tilts, and each of the three light bars tilts independently as well - you'll have no trouble getting light exactly where you need it. There were two minor flaws: the extension poles had a lot of wiggle, but the clamps held everything in place well enough; and when all folded up, the carrying handle is not in a balanced position, especially if a battery is installed. All-in-all, a great tool and I absolutely recommend it.
