Q:Would this work well with automotive? Wanted to sand down my car to repaint.
by|Jun 25, 2024
1 Answer
Answer This Question

A:  Yes it does! Auto is usually 6” and you can put 6” sand paper on it it’ll just hang off a little and usually there no holes in the auto paper.

          Great Power! Comparable to Corded
This Milwaukee m18 random orbital sander meets all of my needs for various projects. The small size but powerful strength allows me to get into hard to reach places and sand them down with no issues at all. Easily comparable to corded versions, this compact and lightweight sander by Milwaukee is the perfect help for when we have to sand down furniture, wood pieces, or various dried paints or caulkings. I have full trust this quality product will last us years. The included attachment pieces are wonderful too as I can hook my shopvap upto the sander and minimize dust debris during sanding projects. The m18 sander is great for long lasting battery life and highpower sanding, and even features an adjustable speed feature so you can adjust the speed of the sanding motion to best fit the needs you have. If anyone is on the fence about this great Milwaukee m18 sander from Home Depot, I urge you to give it a try, you won't be disappointed!

When using them in my string trimmer, the pins in the battery melt making them very difficult to get out of the string trimmer and to recharge.

            Mikita vs Milwaukee battery sander
My palm sander is the only tool in my arsenal that isn’t Milwaukee M18. I really want to like the M18 sander but the ergonomics, weight, battery life and dust collection just don’t measure up to the Makita 18v LXT. My Makita handles a full day of work on one battery. The location of the on/off and speed control on the Makita LXT are vastly better than the Milwaukee. I don’t want my hands shrouding over control buttons when I’m working. I also prefer the additional weight on Makita for control.

I have done a few projects with these items and they came out really good
The new sander and table saw work so good . I cant say much about the employee's that work at my home depot. This not being able to find someone is a joke.

              Do Not Buy
I’m a huge Milwaukee fan, but they didn’t get it right on this one. The brake on this tool fails after a couple of uses. Now it is only a $4 fix but annoying that it needs to be done. I’ve had this sander for a little over a year and have had to do it 3x already. If you plan on using it more than once or twice a month I’d buy a different model/brand. I’ve posted a couple pics of the brake and internal of sander as well as my tool collection just so this isn’t considered a “troll” review .

Sander works just fine, its the flemizy attachment that connects vacuum hose thats terrible
There is a grey/clear plastic sleeve that slides over the sander receiver on one side and the other part of the sleeve connects to vacuum fitting. The amount of stress placed on this flimsey sleeve is fairly significant when the vacuum hose is added. Very poor design to say the least. Anyway it split on both sides in a matter of seconds of use. Hand to improvise with 100 mile an hour duct tape. Looked everywhere for a replacement but nowhere to be found. I really like and enjoy my Milwaukee tools and i have bunch. This has been the only one so far that i have found to be cheaply built.

                  Wish I never switched
I switched from dewalt once I started seeing my friend buying all the m18 fuel stuff seemed a lot better so a few months ago I made the switch I wish I never did and it has caused me nothing but time and wasted money I’m on my 3 rd fuel drill set my second multi tool and the 2 month old sander just stoped working I will probably never buy another tool and look for a better platform there tools are not worth the money if I could go back in time I would keep my xr/ flexvolt stuff and never switched when u use and rely on these toools to pay your bills it is important to have a reliable tool Milwaukee just Is not that and way over priced
