Answer

3-in-1 means you can "Wear, Hang or Carry" it. It comes with removable backpack straps to wear it. I removed the backpack straps and carry it by the top handle. They also say you can hang it on the wall (it has a metal hook that slides out) if you want. The hose it comes with is not very long (meant for back-pack use), but there is an optional 9 foot hose that is useful if you will hand-carry it or hang it up - that hose is Milwaukee 49-90-1964

As a facility manager for a 77,000 sq ft Church, we acquired one Milwaukee ($248) as a test to compare against a ProTeam GoFree Flex Pro Battery Powered Backpack ($1488). The only complaints I have received after 46 days of use (one 12.0 battery per shift) is: -- The carpet head does not like to roll freely over the commercial close knit style carpet. I speculate it is due to the rubber catch blade on the bottom of the head that is causing the hangup. (Suggestion, perhaps a braided Aramid fiber, close weave, with a nylon core for rigidity would act as an appropriate air dam/catch and be resistant enough for commercial use? If you chose this design idea, please reach out to compensate the Church) My staff reports the working solution to be an extreme angle of attack, basically, extend tube all the way out and vacuum as far ahead of you as you can reach, this takes the downward force off the back of the head allowing it to spread more evenly on its 4 small wheels. -- Suction becomes noticeably diminished when the internal particle vortex screen becomes plugged with dust bunnies or, as shown by pictures, cellulose insulation. Fortunately, the design of the unit is easy enough to clear out the blockage, you'll just get a little messy doing so. You'll know when the unit is plugged up when the pitch of the exhaust changes to a higher tone. My staff agrees that the 12.0 battery pack is perfect to handle one shift on the high setting- they all are amazed at how quiet the unit is, as am I, the ease in which to dump its contents and the fit and finish of the components. Overall, we are very pleased with this unit. I would recommend this for use on hard dry surfaces, close office style knit carpet, and use for spot cleaning. I plan to purchase 2 more for use in our facility.

Is vacuum is great for hard floor cleaning, But not great for big debris. Anything bigger than a drywall screw. I find myself clean the filter more often than empty. The dust canister. Have not had this for very long and I run it on the big batteries. I wish there was a way I Could return the item As I have not had it any more than 2 months.

I have a 0880-20 Milwaukee vacuum and I love the power hate the noise. The 0885-20 is a an amazing upgrade. It is quiet and powerful, great attachments and nozzle. I added some small casters to make it even better, the upgrade was simple, just used the screw holes in the base.

(What's this)
This review is for Milwaukee Tool M18, 3-in-1 Backpack Vacuum Kit, product no. 0885-21HD. This product is for dry vacuum cleaning only. My first impression is very positive on how quiet, powerful and versatile this backpack vacuum cleaner is. It is impressively quiet even when operated at the highest of the two motor speeds. Being a Milwaukee Tool product, it is built to be sturdy, but in this case a bit too heavy from my viewpoint. Its weight approaches 20 pounds with the harness, hose, wand and the supplied 9.0 amp-hour battery installed. Removing the harness (done easily) reduces the weight by over 2 pounds. The wand is constructed of steel and has a very easily adjusted length, that done by pulling the collar up or down, the best wand length adjustment mechanism I've seen for any vacuum cleaner. The wand could be lighter by making it of aluminum alloy instead of the steel used. I like the ladder hook with strap to facilitate securely hanging and fastening the unit on a ladder step or rung. The rather costly HEPA filter can be easily cleaned by vacuuming or using compressed air to extend its life. Hose and tool attachment and removal are easily done, much more so than shop vacuum cleaner product that I have used in the past. A significant minus is the fact that this kit does not include a brush attachment, nor is one available as an option. If one were and this product weighed a bit less, I would rate it 5.0 instead of 4.0. The usual long Milwaukee Tool 5-year limited warranty on the tool and 3-year warranty on the battery apply. Overall, this Milwaukee Tool product is a welcome addition to my shop.

(What's this)
WOW! Just when I thought Milwaukee had done it all I'm surprised again. This vacuum is no doubt a game changer in this space. The convenience of having a battery powered back pack vacuum is awesome. It comes with several attachment for different jobs. To add, some of Milwaukee's tools come with attachments where this vacuum hose will fit right into those attachments with ease. The shoulder straps are comfortable and have plenty of padding for comfort. The vac does have a little weight on it but its not a back breaker. Multiple attachments come with it and they fit right onto the waist belt. The vacuum is quite but yet the power behind its suctioning is definitely not compromised. I used this to clean my garage and it did it with ease. I even used it to vacuum my car. There are multiple settings: High, Low and Off. The button is easy to reach when you it strapped to your back. Cleaning it was easy and fast. Overall, this is awesome to have at the ready. The convenience of not having to run a power chord and able to take this everywhere is the perfect addition for keeping the job site clean and professional. If your in the hunt for a gift for Christmas or a Birthday... This item will definitely not be returned!

I have been waiting to write this review. As always, Milwaukee always sells/makes/produces tools etc. that are a notch above the rest. Granted I've been a big fan of Milwaukee for years. But I digress, this Back Pack vac. is the %hit. Has great sucking power, versatile. I carefully reviewed the machine for manufacturing flaws, found none. Well thought out product, except for the on off switch. Only thing it needs is a accessory for vacuuming carpets. Battery charges quickly. If your looking for a shop vac, site vac, this guy will do the job. Oh, great packing. Going to make adapter to attach a carpet sweeper.

(What's this)
Milwaukee did an awesome job on this 3-in-1 cordless vacuum. The 3-in-1 applies to the options of handling the vacuum; carry, hang or wear. One of the first things I noticed on this vacuum is the well placement of the carry handle. I naturally reach for the top of the vacuum and there it is, easy to grab hand-hold. The hang feature is great too but requires removal of the back plate - the one that has the shoulder and waist harness. The next thing I noticed is the beefy 9.0 Ah battery that is included to keep up with the vacuum tasks which it does very well. Intended as a portable vacuum Milwaukee had to keep the design that way and in doing so there is little area to store the included vacuum tools. Some of the tools even store on the waist belt which I'm not too fond of but I can't think of anywhere else Milwaukee could have placed them. That said, I wish the vacuum came with more tools. I like using brush end tools. I used one from another vacuum brand but I had to use an adapter to get it to work with Milwaukee's hose or extender. Overall, this vacuum is probably more meant for the construction side but I found it useful for household tasks such as cleaning ceiling fan blades and dusty return air grills. The backpack design is very comfortable, don't even really feel it back there but how nice it is to climb a ladder and not have to drag a vacuum hose with you - I bring the whole vacuum. Performance is great from the two speed suction to the cool no-kink design of the inlet hose. I used the vacuum connected straight to my orbital sander and the vacuum did great work of removing sheetrock dust on low speed. The "tornado" effect in the canister keep the filter from "loading" up. Features - lots of them, segmented extension wand with positive locking so no accidental collapse of the wand, quite - yes quiet operation. Easy to empty collection canister. Positive lock-on tools and extension wand and it included a multi-volt (M12 and M18) rapid charger. Most importantly - it's light-weight! The only real con is there is no blower port. I'm thinking this is how Milwaukee reduces the noise - they disperse the air versus a single port exhaust. I do often use blower feature on my vacuums but those vacs having nothing on this Milwaukee vac!

This M18 Fuel 18-Volt Lithium-Ion Brushless Cordless 1 Gal. 3-in-1 Backpack Vacuum Kit and Accessories fits nicely in the Milwaukee line up of portable power tools. It is very well built, has great ergonomics, strong suction but for me, the most impressive performance feature is how QUIET it runs. It's at least 40db+ LESS than my big floor shop vac and about 20db less than my shop's dust collector system!! With the excellent carry back pack, it is easy to take to the dirt and dust, cleaning up out autos, home projects and dust collection from sanders and drilling. Attachments are very functional and well thought out, lending to efficient collections. The canister collector cleanup is quick and easy and the hepa filter access is straight forward. Overall the unit is a little bulky, but wearing the backpack makes carry\usage task much more comfortable! This is a great addition to my personal "Clean Air" DIY environmental needs!!

this is the first cordless vacuum I've owned and its fantastic. It runs about 25 minutes on high speed. You get the vacuum and a large 18 volt, 9 Ah battery, along with a fast charger that can also be used to charge Milwaukee M12 batteries. It comes with a crevice nozzle and a floor attachment, and a metal adjustable wand. The wand is very sturdy - almost too sturdy... think it could be used to fend off zombies if needed. A 9 foot is available but is not included. The short included hose is extremely flexible. The box says it is HEPA rated and OSHA approved. The instruction manual is a little more specific - they say it can be used on cement, plaster and drywall dust if the filter is in place. It also says "This product is suitable for collection of silica dust when used in accordance with these instructions. To reduce the risk of health hazards from other vapors or dust, do not vacuum carcinogenic, toxic or hazardous materials such as asbestos, arsenic, barium, beryllium, lead, pesticides or other health endangered materials." It does not use disposable bags - the dust (stuff?) gets collected in the clear chamber which slides out of the unit and has a hinged bottom lid that can be emptied into the trash. You are exposed to the dust when you are emptying it, so plan to do that outside, or use a dust mask for more dangerous types of dust. It should be obvious, but it isn't made to handle hot ashes either. It's plastic... The whole thing is sturdy and well made. Definitely my go-to vacuum when I need to cut some drywall or some other small mess where a portable tool saves time by not messing with power cords and outlets. The backpack fits me well (175 lb man) and I didn't find it heavy. My wife thought the unit was a bit heavy when she tried it, but she is pretty small.

(What's this)
*A well-made, versatile vacuum with some room for improvements* After using this vacuum for the better part of a month I believe this can be a great option for those looking for portable, cordless cleanup. The main draws coming from its flexibility. I’ll spare you repeating all the individual specifications and whats included as that can be viewed in the items description. I did want to touch on the rapid charger and 9ah battery. This charger really is faster and gets the battery to full in about an hour. A great fit for this kit. Build quality is as you would expect from Milwaukee, which is to say it’s excellent all around. Good plastics and rubbers are used and the harness material looks as if it will hold up. Especially impressive are the wand and extension hose. The wand is made of metal, feels heavy duty, and the telescoping is very smooth. Likewise the hose extends great, bends well, won't kink, and has a nice pivoting hinge to protect it. It should be known that this is not a wet vac. It uses cyclonic technology and gets all its suction from its airtight rubber seals. This vacuum is bagless and it’s canister is easy to remove and empty with it’s trapdoor style. Bagless is fine here with the concession being that you will need to clean/replace the HEPA filter more often. The three modes this product was designed for all perform well. As a backpack it’s fairly comfortable and easy to wear once you get the hang of it and I found this to be the most handy mode. Carrying it around with the handle and the harness removed is just as easy though a bit unwieldy with the products weight. Finally the hook extension works fine and will fit most ladders or anything the size of a 2x4. The only issue with this third mode is the placement of the switch and how is can be hard to reach. Performance has been good. This vacuum has no problem with small cleanups and will suck up all the sawdust/drywall dust, etc. that you could want. The point where it starts to run into issues is with larger chunks of debris and other objects such as screws. There is a tradeoff for cordless when it comes to power and expectations should be set accordingly yet this is still the most powerful cordless job vac I’ve used. Run time has been great and easily meets or exceeds stated specifications. 27 minutes on high for me with the 9ah battery and in addition I have been able to get around 20 min. with a lower 6ah pack. I was extremely impressed with the sound of this vacuum in that there wasn't much of it. This has got to be one of the quietest vacuums out there in relation to its power to the point where I feel comfortable using it without hearing protection. Where I think this tool could shine the most outside the general duty of quick cleanup would be when used as a portable dust extractor. Perhaps with an SDS and the proper attachment or another hand tool that tends to make a mess like an orbital sander. They do advertise this functionality and it makes a lot of sense here. Outside of the obvious wishing for more power I would have liked for Milwaukee to have included a brush attachment with this kit as I find myself wanting it often. Furthermore I think if you plan to hang it on the hook often you are probably going to want to buy the longer hose attachment straight away, it almost seems necessary. Id recommend this kit as long as you understand its limitations and need use of what it was designed for. Quick cleanup can't be emphasized enough and being cordless as well as extremely portable/wearable while still having acceptable power puts this product in a class of its own. 4 ½ stars if I could give it that.
