Can i use a extension cord or only battery power?

M18 battery only. There is no provision for an AC cord.

Release the air, drain the water out of the tank, and remove the battery. As far as a container goes, the cardboard box it comes in is 19 " tall, 19" wide and 11" deep. Anything that size or larger should work.

Will this unit handle framing nailers?

Asked by Darren October 13, 2020

Answers

Depends on the tool air usage in CFM. And I think those ratings are all over the place, depending on brand and rate of fire. It drives my stapler and finish nailer. But I have not used it with my framing nailer yet. And I am a fix-it guy, not framing houses full-time, so my usage is intermittent duty. I'm stating the obvious, but I 'd check the air usage on the tool you have before spending money on something that may not suit your needs.

I'd say no. I do not believe 1.8 CFM @40 psi is enough. But I have never donè what you are suggesting. I would be concerned that pressurizing the plumbing above your nominal water pressure (35 psi?) may also damage your pipes. I wonder if a shop-vac hooked up to blow (or suck?) the water out of the pipes would be enough. I think you need airflow more than pressure. But as I said, I have never done what you're attempting.

Is Air Brushing possible? Small Iwata style brush

Asked by Mikem65d October 4, 2020

Possible yes, but you'll need a water trap to prevent moisture from going through the airbrush. Honestly you're better off buying an airbrush compressor thats smaller quieter and purpose built for airbrushes with built in moisture filter. Not to mention the hose connection on these doesn't come close to the airbrushes so you'd end up buying adaptors to make it all work.

How do I get my pressure regulator knob unlock,it locked the second time I changed the setting following the instructios

Asked by Allenpema September 22, 2020

Answer

This is an oddity for the compressor. I found when it is charging, rebuilding air pressure is the time to adjust the knob setting. May have something to do with pressure in the tank making it difficult to turn? A last method is to release pressure in the tank, blow the relief valve, before turning the knob. I came across this issue too with my compressor and it is not a problem now that I know how to fix it.

How much volume of air can this produce at 30lbs of pressure.

Asked by Ddd August 26, 2020
1
Answer

It is spec'd at 1.7 CFM @ 40 psi, 1.2 CFM @ 90 psi. As a guess, I'd say 2 CFM or so @ 30 psi.

Are you able to use this to paint a fence

No it will not run an airbrush . At least not for more than a few seconds.

Milwaukee hits it out of the park
What can i say that hasn't already been said. A cordless compressor is not something i had intended to buy for my Milwaukee line of power equipment, but this little jewel is going to save me a lot of time. I do a lot of interior finish carpentry and the one thing i never enjoy is finding power on site, or the look on a customers face when i fire up my pancake air supply in a home. This compressor is very quiet, and has a humble sound of it's own. There is a video done by someone who demonstrates that the air pressure control won't turn when the compressor is pressurized. Milwaukee must have fixed this as mine turns easily (there is resistance as expected) and i do not need to release all the pressure. Comes up to full pressure just as quickly as expected. The 2 gallon tank holds enough air to do a quick blow off should you need it, and i can see where it will inflate tires if needed. I asked one of the questions on this unit in regards to whether or not i could use an airbrush. Replies from users were great, but i think Milwaukee should post real life suggestions instead of the generic answer they gave. Milwaukee if you are listening, this compressor can indeed provide the airbrush user the painting tasks as needed. I tried it last nite with the Iwata brush pictured along with an external air pressure/water trap and it worked perfectly. I'm very happy i bought this one.

Great functionality, portability, quality and utility.
Having used this compressor with a Bostitch SB 2-in-1 18ga finish nailer/stapler on some repair projects at about 95 PSI, I found the compressor to get up to pressure and operate through about a strip and a half of 3/4 inch staples before cycling back on again for about two minutes. One thing I haven't seen mentioned on any reviews is that Milwaukee missed placing rubber feet below the carrying handle side of the frame. So, when carrying the compressor by the installed carry handle, to set it down, it sits directly on the painted steel frame. I put some protective grip tape on the contact points when it is set down on the ground to prevent damage to the steel frame/roll-cage. While this is a minor "miss" on the designers' part, it was not enough to knock off a star on this awesome tool for those of us who still love our "air-powered" nailers and other pneumatic tools. If Milwaukee adds these protective "feet" on the set-down side of the frame, many users will have less issues with paint scraping off and subsequent corrosion on the very important roll cage (especially in coastal areas where marine air and metal corrosion can become an issue more quickly than in more arid or dry climates). Thanks for reading and thank you to Milwaukee for this great addition to the M18 line!

(What's this)
This is another excellent Milwaukee tool using the M18 battery system. The compressor is well built with a sturdy carry handle and roll cage. It is not light but lighter than most portable air compressors (around 30 pounds). It is pretty quiet and is easy to operate. From a safety standpoint, I was a little concerned about the location of the pressure relief valve. It is easy to access, but if you are not careful, you could bleed the air off in your face. I like the fact that you can regulate the air pressure for various applications. It would be nice if a basic air hose with appropriate connectors could be included with the generator to make a "ready to go out of the box" kit.

(What's this)
I intended to use this mainly to run small nailers and to air up tires when I had flats that were too far from my shop to run an air hose. It works just fine for that. What I found out is that it will actually run my big impact wrench for removing lug nuts and my spray gun. Both of these tools do use a lot more air than the compressor can supply but as long as you are patient it works great. I had a chance to use it on my wife's car when she had a flat several miles from home. Since the pressure maxes out at 135 psi it can be used for a lot more than I had anticipated. It is very well balanced and easy to carry. I think my new compressor is going to be one my most useful tools. I have a gasoline powered portable unit but moving it around for small jobs is more trouble than it is worth.

CORDLESS; LIGHTER WEIGHT; EASY to USE; WORKS with FINISH NAILER — The Milwaukee M18 FUEL 18-Volt Lithium-Ion Brushless Cordless 2 Gal. Electric Compact Quiet Compressor (Tool-Only) has many things to like about it. Even though it is not lightweight, its 31.2 lbs. are much less than my corded pancake compressor’s 55 lbs. That feature plus it being cordless allows me to move it to where I need it. It has a better design than my pancake compressor, e.g., the pressure relief valve is easy to access. Also, since it is only 2 gal. rather than 5 gal, it gets to the desired pressure more quickly. The design of the controls makes it easy to use. It is obviously quieter but not quiet. I like the compact design. The filter and plastic muffler tube need to be installed before using. The instructions say to attach the hose and tool before starting the compressor whereas the pancake compressor says to attach the hose, bring it up to pressure, and then attach the tool. I was very pleased with how it preformed with my finish nailer, actually better than my pancake compressor. It should satisfy all of my compressor needs. It has a 3-year warranty. It is made in Mexico (not China).

(What's this)
The Milwaukee M18 Brushless/Cordless 2 Gallon Electric “Quiet” Compressor works perfect. With zero pressure in the air tank it took 4 minutes and 7 seconds to fill the air tank to the shut off pressure at just under 140 psig. My first project was framing around a vertical drainpipe in order to install drywall. I used the compressor for 4 hours with a fully charged 12 Ah battery. A tank pressure gage is provided and easy to view looking downward at the compressor. A large knob to set the desired supply pressure is located just below the tank pressure gage. The compressor is very quiet, 68 dB(a) and you can easily have a conversation over the sound of the compressor. The compressor weighs about 31 lbs. and can be easily be carried. A round roll cage exists opposite of the air tank and the carry handle which makes it easy to rock the unit to a vertical position and lift it off the ground. It is simple to use; plug in a battery, push the on switch, adjust the supply pressure regulator and connect your air hose. Milwaukee has provided a handy water drain on the bottom side of the air tank. A single standard quick connect is provided to connect your air hose and an air release valve is provided on the right side of the compressor to relieve pressure during transport of the unit. With this Milwaukee battery powered compressor you no longer need 110-volt power supply to run your small pneumatic air nailers at a job site. Just bring a couple of batteries and you’re good for the whole day. It is very light weight and convenient to use. I really like the Milwaukee Air Compressor and would recommend it to anyone who doesn’t have a power supply at their work location.

Seeds Program Review
(What's this)
Milwaukee M18 FUEL 18-Volt Lithium-Ion Brushless Cordless 2-Gallons. Electric Compact Quiet Compressor (Tool-Only) is something new for me. I've owned several air compressors, from the large to the small, currently have a corded pancake six gallon compressor. This two gallon compressor, is ideal for small capacity tools like nail guns and others that operate with a short burst of air. Not used for tools requiring a steady stream like, for example, pneumatic grinders and air wrenches. I love a cordless compressor. It is so convenient, no need for an electrical outlet. It can take the largest battery Milwaukee has, 12 Ah, as well as all other smaller Milwaukee 18-volt batteries you may have, too. The other big advantage is it's quieter than others I've owned. With those compressors, I ran a long hose just to get them out of the room because of the noise. Compared to my older two gallon, it is lighter, less noisy, air cooled and oil free with a brushless no maintenance motor. This one comes surrounded in an excellent roll cage, plenty of grab points that make it easy to handle and tote. There is the weight of the battery here to consider instead of a cord, but easily worth the trade-off in my opinion. In toting the compressor, with a large battery, it is close to 35-pounds and the dimensions are around 16-inches by 18 1/2-inches by 10-inches high. Can't forget it is a 2-gallon tank, limited in what it can do. It is for low CFM requirements. My first air compressor was this capacity so I'm used to its limitations, others new to compressors may not realize this about it. All 2-gallon compressors have the same limitation and this one is excellent in portability. It is something you can throw in the back of the truck and go to work nailing all day. To that end, for constant use consider the battery might overheat. I'd recommend a second battery to let the first one cool or put back in the charger, and that keeps you going. I did initially miss the second tool side air gauge on the compressor. All my other ones had it and sort of expected it, but got over that fast, not a significant concern for such a small unit. What I found more disturbing is the PSI knob you dial in. You have to release the tank to reset it or do it during charging which is something I haven't seen before. Sometimes I fiddle with the output pressure, tweak it, when using tools and especially my paint airbrush. It is something to remember. Finally, I like they put the air release tank cock value high up, no need to reach down under the unit that was a pain on my old one. To summarize, this is a great small air compressor. Its selling points are portability and low decibel level that gets high marks for me, but comes at a premium price. Milwaukee makes high quality tools and this is their first cordless air compressor they have, know it will perform well and give long service.
