      Plenty of power
Great grinder, plenty of power. I have been using it to cut rocks with a 4.5" diamond blade.

      Another must have
Great grinder. Love the variable speed. I wish all of mulwaukees grinders had this feature. Head is a little bulkier and unit is about an inch longer than the standard fuel grinder but it is a nice option to have.

        Great tool
I have a Milwaukee corded grinder, which I am very happy with. But the cordless is the way to go. I has just as much power as the corded version. I had a cheap orange one I won't mention the brand. I had that for 20years and didn't have any issues with until I got this one. Wow what a difference. I'm painter so I don't use it for welding jobs. I use it to cut a variety of things. Metal, tile backer board. Even sanding. I have several different blade and sanding discs. I'm very happy with this tool.

Great Design - Lots of Power
This Milwaukee M18 FUEL 18-Volt Lithium-Ion Brushless Cordless 4-1/2 in./5 in. Grinder with Variable Speed & Paddle Switch is a premium quality 4 ½ & 5 in. angle grinder that can use any M18 battery. This is a tool-only grinder so you need an M18 battery and charger. I decided upon this particular model #2888-20 because it has a paddle-style on/off switch and it has 5 speeds to select from. The brushless-motor in this FUEL model gives more power with less energy consumption than older designs. In fact, the Milwaukee FUEL line of cordless tools is the only one I will buy. I still have some brushed-motor Milwaukee tools but once you try one of these Milwaukee FUEL tools you will be spoiled. I used a 2.0 amp M18 battery and a metal cutting disk to cut off a pipe sticking out of the ground in my yard. This grinder cut it off quickly with no stalling on speed setting 3. Lots of power! Milwaukee says that grinder has the equivalent power of an 11 amp corded grinder and I believe it. I also used a grinding wheel just to test it out on some rusty scrap metal and was impressed. This grinder has a 5/8 inch arbor and that has some people confused about what size of disk it requires. The answer is that you need cutting or grinding disks with a 7/8 inch diameter hole. This and most other 5/8 in. arbor grinders have an adapter ring/shoulder that perfectly centers these 7/8 in. hole diameter disks. Angle grinders are very useful tools to have around the shop. They can cut metals and masonry, use wire wheels for rust removal, use grinding wheels for metal grinding and lots of other things. A very good feature of this grinder is that when you release the trigger paddle the blade stops almost instantly. It is an impressive safety feature. It seems that my old corded grinder takes 10-15 seconds to stop, and I wind up wasting time holding it up and waiting for it to stop. I also like this grinder’s safety shield. It is a 2-piece combo shield that works for both 4 ½ in. and 5 in. diameter disks and it can be rotated to the left or right just by pressing a spring-loaded lever. The same lever allows quick tool-less removal of the shield. The side handle can be attached to either side of the grinder in a few seconds depending upon how you intend to use the tool. The tool is covered by a 5 -year warranty. I liked the paddle-style trigger and the only drawback is that it can’t be locked in the “on” position like the sliding-switch versions. You can get a sliding-switch version of this grinder if that’s what you like. This tool is another example of the professional quality that I have come to expect from the Milwaukee FUEL line. This is a great tool and I highly recommend it.

        Powerful, well-balanced grinder
Just got this new grinder from Milwaukee. Very powerful, with some advanced features! It has five speeds, selectable from a dial at the base of the tool, so it is not in your way when using it. The guard is easy to install and adjust, requiring no tools. The screwdriver in the picture points to the ring that is spring-loaded to set the position of the guard. Very intellingently designed. This grinder has a brake that brings the disc to a stop very quickly, as seen in the video. That will help to reduce injuries. Of course, it has the standard handle that screws into either side. Overall, a great battery-powered grinder!

        Milwaukee grinder
My Review for Milwaukee M18 FUEL 18volt lithium ion grinder. The grinder is variable speed ... Kinda. You have to change it with a dial. The throttle control is still on or off. Speaking of throttle control . It is a thumb switch / think I prefer a paddle switch underneath but I haven't really used it much. What an surprised of is the switch has no safety and can be locked on . All in all it looks like a great tool. I am sure it will be in my tool box for years

No more cord and no more dust jamming the switch.
I love this. But in all cases, I wore personal protection equipment, good gloves, respirator, googles and ear plugs. I use my angle grinder mostly for old paint, rust removal, brick tuck pointing and grinding down concrete popup edges. Made well and looks and feels durable. Did not have that cheap plastic feel to it, so it can take some knocking around in use or in my tool carrier. Here are some things I noticed when I compared it with my Milwaukee corded angle grinder which is my go too tool:: 1) So when brick tuck pointing which kicks up alot of fine particle dust that would constantly jam up my corded Milwaukee Paddle switch angle grinder. With this battery powered grinder with a slide switch lock on feature I no longer have the problem of dust getting into the switch and jamming it from turning on. I keep a can of air blaster just to blow dust away. 2) It has lower noise level when on in comparison and it was quicker to "Rapid Stop". My corded one took longer, even thought it was "Rapid Stop" too. So I like that it stops faster. 3) It is noticeably lighter in my hand than my corded one, so I think its because of how the battery balances out the weight too. The corded grinder was head heavy, whereas this battery version was easier to handle and move about with. 4) The girth of the tool was slimmer too for holding it, so I had less hand cramping from holding it a long time especially when doing brick tuck pointing. 5) Personally, I found it has comparable power to my corded and the battery lasted okay since I was using two of my impact wrench batteries with it. It had less of that twisty feel in my hand that my corded one would give me. I liked that. 6) The flange nut tool is bigger, so I couldn't switch or use the same one on each. So don't lose this one. they are not interchangeable with the corded flange nut tool. 7) I used both Type 29 and Type 27 4 1/2 inch disk, so like other tools it's a matter to flip the flange nut accordingly, so it easy the same here too. 8) No tool bag included. No battery, hopefully like me you have other Milwaukee tools since the battery is interchangeable on these M18 Fuel tools. 9) I found it easier to tighten the flange nut without the cord always getting in my way. I just make sure to pull the battery as a precaution. 10) Only assembly like others was to put on the guard. 11) The speed selector works well, there is good feel of it clicking to set feel and doesn't wander when using. Overall this will definitely compliment my corded tool, and have my corded tool now as a back up to this M18 Fuel tool.

        Another Milwaukee Tool Winner!
We've been slowly switching out our older cheaper electric/battery powered tools for Milwaukee. You can get other brands for less money - you won't get the Milwaukee Tool quality. I have a 9-year old Milwaukee Tool battery drill/driver (a lighter weight version); it's my go-to tool, so it's well-used - and it's still going strong! We have some mortar needing to be cleaned up and tuck-pointed. While this Cordless Grinder didn't come with any tools or battery, we have M18 batteries. And it's inexpensive to purchase mortar grinder wheels. Be aware this is a fairly heavy tool: by the time you insert the battery and wheel, it's going to weigh over 5 lbs. The extended grip helps balance the weight, but your arms are going to get a workout. Sure, there are lighter options out there, but with the Milwaukee Brand you get quality and longevity.
