Yes. It will cut thru weeds and brush up to 1/2 inch. The trimmer is not intended for brush but will cut. It is a beast.
I have the wedge trimmer attachment and have used it quite a bit. I do use it sometimes for cutting light brush. But it needs to be swung slower than a regular trimmer with a cutting disc blade. You need to work a bit slower and with more thought when using it. Bare in mind it's a clipper bar and the weeds needs to get in between the cutting teeth to be cut. Once you slow down it does a fine job. This tool is a bit awkward to use without a strap and honesty the strap that comes with it doesn't work very well. After I used it a while I purchased an inexpensive brush cutter harness and that improved ease of handling substantially. The main purpose of this tool is for cutting hedges of course and for that it shines. Personally I wouldn't want to be without my regular length M18 hedge clipper OR this M18 hedge clipper attachment.
No. Echo is a different manufacturer.
I think mine came with the 8.0 battery but I'm not sure. I have both batteries and I'm not sure which one came with which tool. Either one will work of course.
I was also disappointed that I couldn't find in any stores. This very nearly caused me to buy a different brand. Fortunately the tool arrived more quickly than expected, so I'm over it now. But I am there with you in wondering why it's not available in the stores.
I am afraid I don’t know. I got mine via Homedepot.com
No, it will not fit Ryobi tools.
It will cut a swath of about 20"' and I can continue rather rapidly and get quite a bit done in a short time.
No lie, it will take some getting use to. The weight is a negative however as you get use to where to hold the unit to balance it, it becomes a bit easier to handle. The power switch access is a bit awkward to hold at times especially with the safety latch needing to be depressed while reaching way back to get to it. Maybe using the strap would help. I normally never use them on any of my yard equipment but I will try it next time. The string trimmer is "bad to the bone". A bit heavy but not too much to handle. Trimmed my yard on low range three times now and it never has used more than half the battery. I love the way it cuts level to blend with the mower cut. You almost have to try to get it to scalp the lawn. Very aggressive even with the original .085" line.
It does
