Much easier to work overhead with this battery in my drill and impact driver. My other batterys are XC5. Good batterys but a little heavy. They will now be used in my 6.5 inch circular saw.

These batteries are great, they have the best of both worlds, they're light and compact and they last a long time, I've had both batteries for about a year and they haven't shown any problems and I use them on both my drill and impact. They also last a surprisingly long time even though they are so small. If you're looking for a Milwaukee battery that is light weight and small but also lasts a long time these are your best bet.

I ran a constant current discharge test on each after full charge at 2C which is twice the rating or 6.0 amperes. The 2 batteries were nearly identical showing 2.95 Ah (Ampere hours) of usable charge for the 3 Ah rating. I do this test with all batteries that I buy. Real Milwaukee Lithium are among the best I encounter. Often fake or off-label products test out less than half of the rated Ah.

This is a two-pack of the Milwaukee 3.0 Ah, high output batteries. I particularly like these batteries because they provide the extra output/runtime of an XC battery, but yet they are small and compact—perfect for when you’re using a tool for an extended period of time and don’t want the extra weight of a larger battery. For reference, Photos 1, 2, and 3 compares the size of the 3.0Ah HO and 5.0Ah XC batteries (the 3.0 battery is on the left in all the photos). I particularly like to use these batteries with my Random Orbital Sander—more runtime, less weight (see Photo 4). Can’t beat that.

M18 18-Volt Lithium-Ion HIGH OUTPUT CP 3.0Ah Battery (2-Pack) review: Great compact batteries! When I received these batteries I was immediately impressed. Previously, I have been using 5.0 ah batteries on my GEN3 Impact Driver and GEN2 and GEN3 Hammer drills. These new compact batteries are significantly shorter and a bit longer than the 5.0 ah batteries. This means that the center of gravity standing the tool on the battery are lower - good feature (look at my included photos which reveal that). I weighed the batteries as I thought they weighed more than I anticipated. The 3.0 ah batteries weigh 4.8 ounces less than the 5.0 ah batteries. That may not seem like much but after a long day of building a deck or other big project, it makes a difference on your arms. The batteries, like the 5.0 ah batteries, are extremely well constructed with rubber moldings surrounding them to protect them in the inevitable falls that occur using power tools. Man, this is another shining example of superior Milwaukee construction! I have used these batteries on my hammer drill and impact driver and the weight makes a difference in fatigue reduction. Gosh, Milwaukee can do no wrong. Every single tool they make, M18 and M12 included, are just extremely powerful and robust. These batteries follow in that tradition. I just love Milwaukee products and their robust, long lasting batteries! I wish Milwaukee made trucks and cars - they would last forever and over deliver every single time. There ya go!

Great to finally see the 3.0ah in a more compact design. So far these are working great for me. Note these are a bit longer nose to tail than the previous 1.5 and 2.0ah batteries, but still more compact than the old XC form factor

Lighter than the 3.0 Ah XC battery packs and for a better price, move over overpriced Snap-on nonsense, Milwaukee is absolutely the best!!!

I got a chance to check out the new high output Milwaukee M18 compact 3 a/h batteries. I got the 2 battery pack kit, model 48-11-1837; no charger is included in this kit, just the two batteries. The batteries came with a minimal charge on them; you’ll need to plan on charging them up before starting on your project. There’s a ‘battery gauge’ on the front of each battery (see photo below) that gives a reasonable estimate of power remaining. Fit and finish is excellent and there’s a rubberized bottom on each battery so if you unintentionally set a tool down on a coffee table or piano or some such you are less likely to mar the surface. Milwaukee claims that the new compact high output will deliver 50% more power than previous versions. I can’t do a direct comparison because I have no other 3 amp hour Milwaukee batteries. I can attest, however, that these new cells are light (see photo below) compared to 5 a/h XC Milwaukee batteries and work well in my hammer drill and Milwaukee bit driver. There are a number of web videos showing that the new 3 a/h cells are right up there in performance with the 5 a/h XC batteries. Pro trades will, of course, have their own take on the new setup. As a typical DIY’er, though, I’ve traditionally had 5 a/h batteries in my drill and driver, ready to grab when needed. I’ve pulled the 5 a/h batteries out in favor of the new, lighter 3 a/h high power units, I like them that much. Battery technology keeps advancing, and these new Milwaukee 3 a/h batteries seem to work as advertised. The batteries come with a 2 year warranty from Milwaukee and, of course, the 90 day return policy from Home Depot. HTH Regards, Jim
