I’m extremely disappointed, I have Milwaukee drills, impacts, power ratchets, ect. But when I’m starting to get to the wiring part of my build this thing sucks. Took forever to heat up, forever to shrink the shrink wrap, and didn’t even melt the glue inside. HUGE letdown honestly. It drained my M18 XC 4.0 in about 5 minutes flat. Back to my corded harbor freight one I guess

THE GOOD: It's a heat gun that I can keep in my tool bag that wears quite a lot of hats! AND heat's up quick This is the oddball thing you get when you commit to never wasting time with extension cords again. So there it sits in my tool bag on my passenger's seat and in my shop always ready to be used at a moment's notice! Thus far it's become absolutely invaluable for some safety things HEATING MY FROZEN UPSTATE NY HANDS! seriously I think this thing saved me from frostbite more than a time or two! DeIcing and defogging my windshield extremely fast since it takes even my big v8 more time to warm up and clear the windshield than some days I've allowed for. Yes keep the gun moving and you won't have any issues with the glass. It also is amazing at heating seal's, tape, decals , pinstripes for removal the heat is perfect so that it can be used without melting everything in its path if you keep it moving. the largest battery I have is a 9.0 and it will last me a week or more of use in my daily work I've never run it all the way down. THE BAD: Only things I would change about it is the on-off switch should allow an option to be locked to stay on since this is the only feature my plugin had, so half a star for that and the other half for I feel the nozzles that are options should be included with the tool at this price point since they make the bare tool which is already very capable into the ultimate cordless heat gun option! I wanted this heat gun since the minute it was released. I use my corded heat gun at work for cabling and removing labels and with M18 tools I already had, this product was a no brainer for me. I finally got it for Christmas and was HUGELY disappointed. With a M18 9.0 HD Battery the temps only got to 351* F. I used 3 different MSA Thermal Imaging Cameras to verify this and all 3 came out to be 351 degrees, a bit short of the advertised 875* F. I even let the heat gun run for 5 minutes thinking maybe it would get warmer over time but that was also not the case. I wrote Milwaukee and am just waiting to hear back but from other reviews, I'm guessing they wont have much to say. Super let down by this tool especially when the M18 lineup is (was) so great.

This Was Very Useful When I Needed To Dry My Patch Work

It's amazing that an effective battery powered heat gun like this one even exists! It's great for jobs in tight spaces where it would be a hassle to run a cord, but unfortunately it's not a complete corded replacement. One awesome feature is that it stands upright on its base! I just wish the bare tool came with a few nozzles too... Heat up time is blazing fast (see what I did there?) at just around 6 seconds until the gun reaches effective heat output. It continues warming up to full temperature during longer usage periods, but I was very impressed with the near-immediate usefulness of its heat output. The head is super compact, at just 6.35" in length I think it's actually the shortest length heat gun I've ever used. Plus, the black plastic shroud at the front is well insulated, and doesn't get hot enough to burn even after extended use. I clocked a 5 Ah battery lasting 18 minutes and 45 seconds, but I noticed the heating coils went from red hot back to normal somewhere between the 17 and 18 minute mark. Temperature tops out at 875°F, which is quite a bit lower than the standard 1100°F that most corded heat guns get up to. This heat gun also doesn't have a temperature control, which is one major drawback. The only way to regulate the temperature reaching your work piece is by regulating the distance and duration yourself. I would have preferred at least a low/high mode selector switch. The other big drawback to this heat gun is that it has a pretty weak fan. I think it's by design and allows the heat gun to reach full temperature with such a short barrel, but that means it's not putting as much energy out, since air mass flowrate matters when using a heat gun too. Overall, I think this is a groundbreaking offering from Milwaukee that will really benefit those who need cordless convenience and compact form factor. However, if you need extended run time or higher temperatures, you'll still have to stick with corded.

M18 CORDLESS COMPACT HEAT GUN This is one of the best tools I have seen. It comes in handy for so many different things. In my line of work I am always in need of a heat gun and now it is back What a great idea. This makes a great addition to my Milwaukee family of tools. I just can’t say enough about how much I love and trust my Milwaukee tools. They definitely get the job done. I believe Milwaukee is a step above the rest.

i ordered this heat gun for many jobs both in repair and starting fires in my grill and even frying dreaded fire ants. the MK 18 heat gun is mobile means you can take it anywhere off the grid job sites both for home and for contractors builders crafts art and emergency uses a caution i give concerning the M-18 2 amp battery the fast drain of this heat gun will heat up the cells of the 2 amp battery vary fast so i do not recommend at all using the 2amp battery but use the 5 amp 6 amp and 9 amp battery now if the power goes out and you find your pipes frozen Use only the 9 amp battery for thawing pipes this is a great tool so use it with care and discernment

Awesome specialty tool!! This is a tool only package. The battery in the photo is a battery that I use with another compatible tool. The heat gun heats up extremely quick!! There is a small lever that is located right above the trigger for a safety. The lever is slightly pushed up to activate the trigger. The tool is very compact while offering exceptional performance! The tool has a ladder hook/ utility hook to hang up while not in use on the job! I would strongly recommend to anyone looking for a cordless heat gun that has the power and capabilities of a corded tool!!

If you want a level of heat equivalent to the breath of someone whispering sweet-nothings in your ear, this tool is for you. However, the reality of it working as a heat gun is highly disappointing. It barely can melt heat shrink as the battery quickly dies before the job is even finished.

The tool works just fine but it doesn't create enough heat to be an effective heat gun. I can put the nozzle within an inch of my hand without burning it.
