I wouldnt throw it in a river and hope for the best but rain has no shot.
They all have a rubber seal. When I travel between high altitude and lower altitude, the air pressure causes the lid to be hard to open due to barometric pressure. That makes me think its probably very water resistant -- certainly rain proof.
