The diamond hole portion of the bit is 11/4 " in diameter. Hope that is what you are looking for, when you asked for a thread size.

Why does it retract? I tried to use this and the retraction won't let it drill a good hole. This ...

Your have to make a starter divot for the hole center first using just this bit without attaching the hole saw to the arbor. This makes it easy to see and drill the center point. Once you have the divot, attach the hole saw and used the divot to prevent skating across the tile. The spring action allows you to bring the hole saw down onto the tile surface immediately while staying centered on the divot. There is no need for the center bit to drill completely through the tile since the hole center is waste anyway.

Very easy to use. It would be a bit more handy if it included a hex key for the plunging center.

I was helping one of my grown children re-tile their bathroom and needed new hole saws for the shower mixer and bathtub fill tube since my current ones were getting pretty dull. I found it best to use a center punch to LIGHTLY break the surface of the tile so the starter bit gets a little better grip to hold the saw firmly. Other than that I like the idea of the center bit not going all the way through the tile. Both holes we drilled with this were clean and cut through fairly quickly.

Was very easy to install this arbor onto the hole saw ( screwed in) . This along with the hole saw cut through the bathroom wall tile very quickly, also with spraying water on it to keep the heat down. Worth the money.

I somewhat regularly use this with a 2" diamond plus bit for drilling pass throughs into granite counters. It centers and starts well, the spring loaded bit makes it easy to accurately start your cut. The center bit pops out quickly with the hole saw installed for doing deep cuts.

Didn't make much of a divot in the tile. Spring operated blade wouldn't allow enough penetration to keep the hole saw steady.
