Absolutely. 7/16, 1/2, 9/16, 5/8 are all the same, too. The drill bit corporation WANT you to think they are different sizes so you buy more drill bits. That's also why they invented the Metric System.

Drill bit packaging?
I haven't drilled any holes yet - just got this for Christmas! The first thing that stood out to me was that the box is at least twice as big as it needs to be! I also noticed that it has no holes drilled into it so you can see what size bit that you need - my 40 year old one has this feature. I am, however, looking forward to drilling holes without having the bit slip in the chuck on my drill.

The thinner ones suck
Thick ones work fine for me. But two thinner ones broke during the first use. Claiming warranty is also a hassle, driving 40 minutes for two drill bits is definitely too much for me.

The HD associate advised to use these bits for durability. They’re great and have been very dependable. I use them primarily for drilling into 2x4’s to make Adirondack chairs.

Within 2 minutes of using the bit to drill a hole in a screen door handle, the bit broke. I have cheap bits from over 20 years ago that have no such problems. The old steel bits are kind of dull, but they don't break like glass.Junk bits and an embarrassment to the brand.

These bits are sharp and look well made. I like the fact that they are mounted on a 1/4 inch adapter. This would in theory make them very handy. I've only had these for a week and I have been having a few issues. 1. The bits list on the packaging at the top right of the plastic blister pack that they are made for wood metal and masonry. This is misleading and not the case. I tried to put one through some stucco very gently and it melted the end off within 20 seconds. 2. I have also tried to drill some thin metal on a door lock. Normally this would be a pretty easy task but in the process that I have done several times with other bits. I snapped 5 of these bits all without applying much pressure and being very careful to not put any side torque on them. 3. Another occasion i used one 3/16 bit to try to drill through a 1x6 and a peice of High density fiber board at the same time. These bits drill through wood very well but when I tried to pull it out I snapped the bit in half because the 1x6 tried to come with the bit. Saying all this I'm not going to blame the bits entirely but I have broken 7 of these bits and have drilled less holes with this set than that. I have never encounter this issue with any other drill bits before. I dont think it's worth getting if you are going to try to use them on anything other than very light carpentry or maybe some drywall work especially the smaller bits. Maybe I am using them wrong but I dont think so. After some research I think a dewalt bit set might be the better choice in my opinion.

So far so good. I was in need of a new drill bit set and I have been happy with this one. I have used a few of the bits on various projects including drilling into wood, steel and plastic. These have performed well. They are easy to identify with the sizes on the side of the bits. They snap into my quick connect on my drill. I also like how the case moves to display the bits. Finally, I was happy with the price given the high quality of this set.
