SHOCKWAVE Impact Duty 3/8 in. Metric Deep Impact Rated Socket Set (8-Piece)

For the price, these are excellent sockets, build is good, quality is great. If you’re older and have trouble seeing, the painted stamped sizing is great on the eyes, especially working in low light conditions. I have both 3/8 and 1/4 metric sets and have enjoyed using them.

This metric set of Milwaukee impact sockets is half inch drive and six point contact with a shallow well. For those using a pin detent style impact wrench, these sockets have two holes to simplify attachment. One of the features of this set is the large stamped markings for socket size and the bright white ink used to fill the markings. The sockets are manufactured from forged high torque impact steel for durability and they include a non-slip hex geometry to reduce damage to the socket and rounding of the fastener. The sockets come in a blow mold style case that has a space for each socket that is labeled with the corresponding socket size. Not only does this make it easy to put sockets back in the correct locations but it also makes it easier to identify a socket to select if they have turned and the socket markings are not visible. The case is designed to nest when stacked which will help with storage. In my testing, the sockets held well on an impact wrench with friction ring connection. They also fit well on fasteners with no slipping or rounding of the fastener. Overall this is a great product that I absolutely recommend. My only thoughts or concerns which are minor and do not detract from the value of the product: 1) Once the retail wrap is removed, one has no way to differentiate between different cases of impact sockets from the outside (i.e.: metric vs. standard) as the blow mold case does not have any part numbers, words, etc. on it other than the Milwaukee logo (note: inside there is a sticker identifying each socket size and its corresponding individual part number); 2) Some of the red ink/paint drizzled or dripped onto other areas of the sockets during manufacturing. SUMMARY: A NICE MEDIUM-SIZED 3/8” IMPACT SOCKET SET BACKGROUND: I didn’t have a deep well impact socket set, and the Milwaukee 49-66-7021 looked like it would do the job. FIT AND FINISH: One of my first socket sets from Milwaukee. Very heavy duty, with a nice solid feel. FEATURES: From the Home Depot page, with my comments as appropriate. • Kit includes 7 Deep Metric Sockets and 1 Socket Adapter. The following sizes are included: 10, 13, 14, 15, 17, 19, 21, 3/8" Socket Adapter. o Missing the 11, 12, 16, 18, and 20mm sockets. I have them in other sets. Not sure how often I use those sizes. • Boldest, longest-lasting markings and extreme impact durability in high torque applications. The stamped and ink-filled size marking enables users to select the right socket every time throughout the life of the socket. o Very visible, but only marked on one side. • Laser etched part number. o Handy if you need to know. • Engineered with high strength forged steel for optimized performance in heavy-duty applications. o I didn’t see the alloy number, but they feel tough. • Lifetime Guarantee covers impact sockets and extensions only • Optimized for use with 3/8" drive impact wrenches, drivers, ratchets, and adapters o Lol, not sure what this means…but ok. • Non-slip hex geometry prevents socket and fastener rounding. o The radius relieved corners seem to be a common construction configuration now. • Dual-hole design and ring groove allow for easy socket attachment and removal. o The dual-hole design is slightly harder to remove than the internal recesses in some of my other sockets. But I’d rather have them a little harder to remove than too easy. • Customizable Socket Rail comes with interchangeable clips and removeable end caps to add or take off socket clips for optimal storage. o You can do it, but there isn’t room to add any sockets to the rail. • Lifetime Guarantee covers impact sockets and extensions only. • Meets ASME industry standards. o So many standards OPERATION: The sockets slip on and off my ratchets with minimal effort. I ran a long lag screw into a 4x4 test piece with no problems. SUMMARY: A good deal for the money and a welcome addition to my socket collection.

I recently ordered and received the Milwaukee SHOCKWAVE ¾ in drive Metric 6-point Impact 8-piece socket set. Milwaukee quality is second to none. This is an extremely heavy duty, well-made socket set. The set comes in a nice hard plastic carrying case. Each individual socket is engraved with long-lasting ink filled identification for ease of selection. The six-point hex style socket helps prevent fastener rounding due to the multiple contact points. Best of all, the kit comes with a lifetime guarantee against product failure. I would always recommend these Milwaukee sockets. I have included a few pictures of the set below.

The sockets are great, for me they take the guessing out of which impact socket do I have in my hand. My other impact sockets performed well, but it took a few seconds to properly identify them, the numbers are clearly visible so I was able to grab the correct one each time. This kit lost a star from me for 2 reasons: 12mm sockets are the ones that I use commonly, and they are absent from the kit 2) Even though the sockets are have the oun detent, I was able to remove them with just a tug as they did not sit securely After all this a good kit. I was able to use the 13mm sockets to remove the nuts from the casters that I placed on a homemade cart years ago without any issues.

I've always had good luck with Milwaukee tools, so when I needed to add larger sockets to my set, this was a great choice. The set includes 26, 27, 29, 30, 32, 35, 36, and 38mm six point impact sockets. The sockets are size stamped and filled with white ink so they are easy to read. They come in a sturdy molded case with actual over-center clamps to securely hold it closed.

I’m really liking these new products Milwaukee is coming out with. The socket set is great and they are impact so they work great with my Milwaukee 3/8 impact. I’ve got a ton of automotive tools from all the top companies. Milwaukee is up there in quality with them. The numbers on the sockets are my favorite part about them because they are bold and big. And they are actually etched into them. So when I’m laying under a car I’m not picking up three sockets and trying to see up close which one is the size I’m looking for. And the lifetime guarantee on them is the warranty that all competitors have also. These ones I got are metric and are six point. I prefer the six point because he grabs the actual night snuggly without any play. I’ve run into some stubborn nuts and no stripping of any kind or the sockets falling off my impact. They have worked out great. The rail it comes with is also really good because it holds them really good so they’re not falling out in a tool bag or something. And I like how I can set them up with all the markings facing out. I’ll end up getting some half-inch sockets from them soon to add on to the collection. The rail itself also seems to be interchangeable to customize it. Not sure how or why I would do that but a cool feature to know I can do it. These things are going to last forever and these are great for anybody that works on their car or does it professionally.

I was needing a deep socket set that is designed for impact duty for use with my cordless driver. Often times I am using fasteners that too long to work well with my stand sockets. I selected this Milwaukee set primarily because of the bold markings on the socket wall. The deep engraving and the bright white mark makes it very easy to identify the socket size. I'm not certain how well that will hold-up in dirty grease applications but I don't know of any socket that would. Each socket is heavy constructed materials and feels like it will hold up regardless of the driver or torque application. I also appreciate the included SHOCKWAVE 3/8" socket adapter. I also like the included storage rail but it's a real struggle to get the sockets to release from the base. At least I shouldn't loose any of the sockets.

The socket set is a great set for those who need durable sockets that don’t need something compact. The sockets are really durable. The markings on the socket are recessed and painted really well and don’t come off. The sockets fit well without being too tight for rusty bolts. The sockets are pretty thick walled at 3.53mm thick compared to the 2.74 mm thick of comparable sockets. At $65 for the set Its a very good budget option compared to other name brands of the same quality. They also come in a very nice case with good latches. The sockets fit well and don’t rattle and fit snugly without being hard to get out. The case also includes part numbers for each socket as well which is very nice. One thing I didn’t like was the pass-through hole in the socket was a little small on some sockets and made it hard to get the sockets to fit in the organizer

I like the holder for these sockets it is nice and heavy duty. Each socket is in gravel and white paint is used to mark the size. The size range is nice that you don’t need to get two different sets of socket sizes to do a job. The socket size is made just right, there is no play in the socket to nut/ bolt. They are heavy duty impact sockets. We will have to see if they round off, but they are made very well.
