This is a useful set of metric drill taps which are a combination of a drill and a tap in a single tool. The leading end of the drill tap is a conventional drill bit. The rear portion of each drill tap has a tapered thread cutting tap. This tool can be used to make a threaded hole can be made with a single pass. It is designed to be used with an impact driver so there is no need to repeatedly stop and back up the tool as would be done with a conventional tap. The process of making tapped holes is much faster with this improved tool.

The Milwaukee SHOCKWAVE 5-piece metric steel drill tap set is a welcome addition to my tool collection. The set includes what I would consider the most common sizes one is likely to encounter. They attached quickly and easily to my Milwaukee driver and made short work of every test hole I drilled. In cast iron, aluminum, and wood I got perfect holes that were drilled, tapped, and counter-sunk with ease. I got no resistance when threading screws and tight, wobble-free, fit. I would swear these holes were drilled in a factory. I did not try these in my drill and they are specifically recommended for use in a driver. I suppose it would work, just not as efficiently. I was always taught that when drilling into metal you should use a lubricating oil and was surprised to see that wasn't mentioned on the package. Since these are a little pricey for 5 bits (the only reason I am deducting one star), I did use oil to help keep them cool and long-lasting. Another quality tool from Milwaukee and a great item to have whether you need it today or want it on hand for some unforeseen job down the road.

What a great innovation for tapping. Whenever I have had to tap a hole for a screw I can’t remember what size drill I need to match the tap. Plus, I usually have problems with the tap tools not turning the tap well or struggling to cut threads. This all in one kit solves those problems. The integrated drill bit ensures I always have the right size and using the bit in an impact driver ensures I have the power to cut the threads. For my testing, I used this kit to cut M4x0.7 threads in a metal electrical box. What a joy to have it drill through the metal with ease and then cut the threads super fast. The bit even features a countersink but I did not use that feature in my test. One item of concern is that once I drilled through the material, the impact driver cut the threads super fast and pushed the thread cutting portion of the bit all the way through to the countersink. To get the bit back out of the hole you have to reverse, but since the new threads are not engaged with the cutter you have to be careful to ensure you do not come out at an angle cutting new threads and in essence stripping the entire hole. What is included is as follows: M4-0.7 M5-0.8 M6-1.0 M8-1.25 M10-1.5 Overall, I recommend this product and found it extremely useful.

I used these tools to drill into a piece of aluminum that was being joined to another with a threaded screw. Simply put a starting hole with a punch, then drilled into the aluminum after having oiled the drill bit. Make sure that the clutch on the drill is at its softest (lowest number) and drill slowly. Found this was easy with the drill bit, a little more difficult when the threads were being cut, but finished off easily with the countersink.

This Milwaukee Shockwave Metric 5-Piece Steel Drill Tap Set is an absolute time saver. The ability to bring drilling and tapping at a high rate of speed in a single process and into my business changes the game for us. For years we started with a more precision process when drilling (ie. press) and followed with manually tapping each hole. With modern processes, we drill and tap on-the-fly! Purchasing options for both set and individual makes this even more versatile. Two thumbs up!

Every tool box should have an extractor set. In my use, I had two screws break off of a vise clamp. I used one of the extractor bits, drilled into the screw, reversed, and out the broken pieces came. My vise is now usable again. These are easy enough to use, they appear sturdy, and you can use a drill or an impact driver (the latter is a better choice). They are small enough to get lost so I am going to use a magnetic bar I will put up on the wall to store them. When these are needed, you want to be able to find, use them. They worked great for me; I recommend them.

Milwaukee 5 piece set drills and taps at the same time. No longer do you need to search for the corresponding drill bit to go with the tap that you need. The drill part drills fast, and the tap makes nice clean threads. These were designed for use with impact drivers and drill drivers. If you are drilling steel, I recommend you use the impact because as soon as the threads start cutting, the drill tries to twist on you potentially hurting your wrist or snapping the drill tap. (I tested both)The impact doesn’t catch at that point, it just starts impacting.

These is the neatest tool. You have a quality drill bit with a thread tapping capability and if you want you can go a little further and countersink a hole for a flat head screw. I now have an easy way to make my aluminum brackets in less time not having to drill a hole then get out the threading tap set and tap the hole. And if needing a counter sink it again saves another step. Here I must modify a miniature speaker bracket for my sports car and it came out perfect. To do it the instructions suggests using a drill driver, I have not tried using a regular drill, but it may work. You do have to reverse the drill to remove the threaded part of the bit out! I tested it on some aluminum I had that was multiple thicknesses, the thinner part the thread was workable, and the screw worked okay, the thicker I went the better the threading was and there was less play with more threads. I even did a few counter sinks. It’s nice that there is a space between the threading and countersink bit if you do not want to countersink the hole and threads.

As the name implies, these drill and tap holes - countersink too, if so desired - in metal up to 1/4". Used in a cordless drill or 1/4" impact driver, they make for a very fast process. No longer do you have the hassle of not only having a tap and tap handle along with you, also the need to hunt for the twist drill bit that a particular tap requires. As an electrician, I've been using these style of taps since they came about. Primarily in my impact driver, as pictured. I'm often using these in tight spaces, so not having to have the room to swing a tap handle is another huge boon. As pictured, you can also use them in any standard 1/4"-hex extension, which truly comes in handy at times. Bits were sharp, cut very well. In appearance, they look the quality of the other pro-grade ones I've owned. Only thing I would have liked to have seen was that they came in a case, to help keep them both sharp and organized, riding in my work truck. A minor thing, though. Give them a try!

These are a really great tool that saves bunches of time. All you do is find the spot you want to tap, or tap and countersink, put one of these in you drill and start drilling. The drill portion drills very well and quite quickly, then when it gets to the tap portion of the tool you just continue to keep good down pressure on the bit and it will tap threads into the hole. Once the tap portion is all the way through you can back out the bit it you don't want the hole countersunk or continue to push down and countersink the hole as much as you would like. Easy as can be! It says that it will work up to 1/4" thick steel and I had no problem drilling, tapping, and countersinking 1/4 inch steel. A impact drill worked best for me, mostly because the bigger sizes make it hard to hold a regular drill and keep it from turning. The only down side that I can see is these are quite hard and brittle and if your hand or work piece suddenly slips they will break. (oops). The overall length of the bits ranges from about 2" to 2 3/4" and the tap sizes are M4x0.7, M5x0.8, M6x1.0, M8x1.25, M10x1.5. All in all a great tool and nothing not to like about them BUT a case or holder would have been nice
