A:  Thank you for your interest in our products! We do not recommend using this product for your bonsai tree. We recommend using a commercial bonsai soil mix specifically designed for bonsai trees.

            Fungus gnats and weevil eggs
I am so upset, this dirt killed the cactus I inherited from my deceased mother that I have had for over 16 years. I have 2 large bags of this dirt bought in store Home Depot and It is loaded with fungus gnats / weevil eggs. I can’t replace my mom’s cactus, it had sentimental value. I have several other plants potted in this bug infested dirt that I have to try and save (a huge palm, aloe, snake plants). Miracle grow should be a trusted name, but I don’t recommend nor will I purchase ever again.

We're sorry to read about your disappointment with Miracle-Gro Cactus, Palm & Citrus Potting Mix and appreciate your feedback.
Some small pieces of back and twigs are intentional components of our growing media. Most of our soils, especially potting mixes and garden soils, are made of composted forest products and contain very little, if any, soil. This provides high organic content and nutrients without the concern for soil compaction.
We want you to be confident in our products. For this reason, we offer a product guarantee to our consumers. At your earliest convenience, please reach out to us at 877-220-3089 if we can further assist. miracle-gro

              Great, as expected
As my plants have been totally ignored while dealing with Hurricane Ian damages, thought I would repot them. This Miracle-Gro Cactus potting soil is the best. It holds just the right amount of water to keep them healthy, won't use anything else.

              Good for cactus and succulents
I find inconsistencies in this product from bag to bag I guess thats expected with soil being natural. Its usually well draining and has a good mix of sand. But I have had a bags where it seems heavier and full of peat.

This is how I do it!
I’ve been using miracle grow potting mixes for years. Yes the soil is unsterilized. My method is simple . I add Bonide Systemic Houseplant Insect Control to any and all potting mixes. This will help keep pests out of your life. Nobody wants these little beast flying around their home. To ensure they don’t come back,as they do like wet soil. After 3-6 months I apply a tablespoon of the systemic to each and every plant in my collection. To lighten the cactus mix add equal parts perlite to improve drainage.

Plants are flourishing despite all the fungus gnat
I bought two bags of this product and repotted a staghorn and half a dozen holiday cactus. The plants are indoor plants and haven’t been outdoors. I was astonished to discover all the fungus gnats that have been coming from the dirt. I actually saw some fly out of the bag when I opened them. I had to purchase tacky sticks to try to address the problem. I’m actually considering treating the soil itself to stop potential future hatchings. Very disgusted!

Disgusting weevil eggs in my new dirt! Gross.
I will never use this product again after finding TONS of weevil eggs that ruin plants! I’m really disappointed with the quality (or lack thereof) of this succulent soil, I would definitely recommend going somewhere else. I've read a lot of reviews having the same problem. I would suggest going to your local nursery. I’ve never had this problem there. These are bugs that can be transferred inside too!! YUCK. You’ve been warned!

                      Is it normal?
I opened my potting mix today. Little white spots everywhere (I don't know what that is). Is it normal?

I use this for all my plants, not just cactus
I use this soil for everything Not just cactus and palms and the such Honestly a lot of these bad reviews, to me, seem like an overwatering problem Perhaps the mentioning of fast draining gives the impression that you can or should water often My recommendation, cut your watering in half Even if you don’t have an overwatering problem I think you’d be surprised how long plants can go without a drink Just something to consider I know every situation is not the same I’m generalizing
